Warehouse and Shipping Manager

Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Shipping Manager to oversee our shipping and receiving operations in the live goods industry, which involves unique challenges such as maintaining the health and quality of perishable plants during transport and utilizing specialized shipping methods and equipment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in warehouse management, logistics, and knowledge of live plants loading and shipping, ensuring that all shipping processes run smoothly and efficiently. This role requires excellent leadership skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to process improvement within our fast pace shipping environment.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily shipping and receiving operations, ensuring timely and accurate processing of orders.
• Manage a team of warehouse staff, providing training, guidance, and performance evaluations.
• Oversee inventory management practices to maintain accurate stock levels and minimize discrepancies.
• Utilize warehouse management systems (WMS) for tracking shipments and inventory.
• Implement process improvements to enhance efficiency in shipping operations.
• Ensure the shipping warehouse and associated equipment are operational by conducting regular inspections, adhering to maintenance schedules, and addressing any equipment issues with maintenance team.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies in all warehouse activities.
• Coordinate with other departments to facilitate smooth logistics operations.
• Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment as needed for shipping tasks.
• Ensure proper handling, loading, and shipping of live plants to maintain their quality and integrity.
• Must be familiar with various live goods shipping platforms such as CC-Carts, EZ shipper, wooden racks, and corrugated bins.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a warehouse or shipping supervisor role.
• Strong knowledge of shipping and receiving processes, particularly in the live goods industry.
• Bi-lingual candidate fluent in is a must.
• Familiarity with inventory management practices and warehouse management systems (WMS).
• Mechanical knowledge is a plus for troubleshooting equipment issues.
• Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and a focus on continuous process improvement.
• Forklift certification is preferred; training may be provided for qualified candidates.
• Experience in handling, loading, and shipping live plants is required.

Expected hours: 8 – 10 per week
