United Security Bank is Hiring a BSA Analyst I Near Fresno, CA

Description

SUMMARY:

Under the general supervision of the BSA Officer, this position performs various assignments related to the Bank’s Bank Secrecy Act Program (BSA) and anti-money laundering (AML) functions. This position is primarily responsible for daily money laundering and fraud prevention activities of the Bank and requires a thorough and accurate review of BSA-related filings and reports. Additionally, tasks relating to suspicious activity filing and compliance with BSA regulatory requirements will be necessary for inclusion into daily duties. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists with internal operational, financial, and compliance audits, to determine whether controls are adequate and effectively maintained in accordance with Bank policies and procedures for general regulatory compliance.
  • Collects audit data, analyzes, and compiles results for review by the BSA Officer.
  • Documents internal control deficiencies and regulatory exceptions and notifies the BSA Officer of identified areas needing improvement or correctional training.
  • Assist with internal BSA audits to determine whether controls are adequate and effectively maintained in accordance with Bank policies and procedures. Collect data and compile results. 
  • Notify the BSA Officer of activity requiring the filing of Suspicious Activity Reports. Under the supervision of the BSA Officer, investigates, prepares, and submits SARs within the BSA/AML model.
  • Assists with the gathering of information for external audits and regulatory examinations. 
  • When requested to do so, acts as a resource for branches, departments, and management.
  • Assists and performs clerical and other related duties as assigned, in support of the administrative work of the Risk Management Department.
  • Keeps abreast of current issues and areas of risk and BSA, and appropriately focuses attention/identification on areas that pose higher risk. Participates in necessary education and training to attain essential knowledge and information to meet designated duties and expectations.
  • Provide direct instruction to branch staff regarding the use of the BSA/AML model in the completion of CTRs, SAR referrals, MIL, and other BSA-related matters. 

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Education, Experience, and Knowledge: 

· 5 years of banking experience and 2 years of direct experience with BSA.

· Good working knowledge of BSA/AML requirements and regulatory compliance issues.

· Good understanding of industry trends, suspicious activity reports, and currency transaction reports filing.

· Good judgment in identifying fraudulent activity and analyzing system-generated fraud alerts.

Other Job Requirements: Skills, Abilities, Competencies:

· Basic accounting skills with mathematical aptitude and Excel spreadsheet skills.

· Must be proficient in the use of personal computer systems, internet applications electronic mail, and various Windows-based software applications including, but not limited to, banking application software, Word, and Excel.

· Observe the highest degree of confidentiality in handling information received while discharging responsibilities.

· Initiative-taker able to work without constant supervision.

· Able to provide positive guidance regarding regulatory requirements to other personnel.

· Demonstrates strong people skills to communicate effectively with officers and frontline staff.

· Good verbal and written communication skills.

· Ability to work within prescribed time limits.

· Ability to manage workload with multiple time limits and changing priorities.

· Ability to make independent decisions under minor supervision of the BSA Officer.
