To strive to develop a nationally competitive youth development program with anemphasis on Youth National Team selections, NCAA college placements and thecreation of future professionals.
To emphasize the development of the person as well as the player, pridingourselves on the quality of the youth soccer experience
Staff Coach: Expectations
Reports to;Executive Director,Technical Director, Zone/Program Director
Training Sessions :
Diligently plan practices that are age and stage of development appropriate. Sessionsshould develop each individual's capacity to execute their functional role and each team'scapability to execute our game model.
Are structured in a way that follows the club's practice requirements (Activation Phase,Modified Play, Game Play, Free Play - Opposition, Decision Making, Competition,Direction, Goals) with consideration taken towards tactical periodization for u12 agegroups.
Are prepared for, structured and delivered in a way where intensity and playerengagement are witnessed throughout.
Are delivered using a variety of coaching behaviors and intervention strategies that tryand ensure players become capable of independently and collectively solving problems.
Are reflected upon in order to ensure both players and coaches can continue to beprovided with the best learning and development experience possible.
Are recorded in order to understand what scheme of work has been emphasized andcovered to provide support for the next staff coach working with the group as well asensure the developmental needs at each age group/level are met.
Games:
Are prepared for fully with lineups, likely rotations, substitutions (GA/ECNL), alternatetactics and objectives (ATT or DEF) clearly established prior to the game. Your Duktigbook can/should be used to help here.
Are played in a way that demonstrates our game model. Football will always be thepriority and MUST be encouraged always.
Learning to compete, with both players and coaches adapting tactical decisions to try andachieve success / remain competitive in games is also critical.
Are coached but also observed. Find the balance. Tactical adjustments and adaptationsare important at every level and making notes / talking to your substitutes will help youmaximize your ability to effectively provide feedback and make changes within games.
Coaches should attempt to not provide direct instruction to the player on the ball andinstead focus their attention on the structure of the team in terms of support (attack) andorganization (defending) off the ball.
Feedback or instruction is provided with meaning or an explanation of why attached - notjust cheerleading.
Coaches must remember they are always representing the club and while frustrationsoccur (especially with officials) this should never become a confrontation or altercation. Maintaining a calm and rationale mind is important.
All players are deserving of a positive mindset and your best effort- try not to letfrustrations from previous games carry over and provide every team regardless of levelwith your best effort
Administration:
All administrative duties are carefully and dutifully handled in a timely manner to ensurethe quality of our communication and organization is of the highest order.
Player Carding, Rostering, Tournament / State Cup / League applications, GameScheduling are fulfilled promptly
Well thought out, weekly recap emails are sent to all teams reflecting on weekendperformances and the schedule / scheme of learning for the upcoming week
Detailed IDP's (Fall) and Player evaluations (Winter) are conducted and produced witheach player.
Any tasks (operational or development based) requested by senior management arecompleted in a timely manner.
During the college recruitment ages, coaches are expected to support their players andfamilies in the entirety of the college application process. Support is also provided byZone 2 Director/s and TD but coaches must take the lead in engaging in conversations
Meet with prospective schools and guiding players accordingly. Coaches are expected toeducate themselves on this environment (with TD always available to answer questions) so that their guidance can be both credible and helpful.
During all tryout seasons, coaches are expected to work diligently towards achieving allteam formation targets. Financial conversations MUST go through TD but coaches areexpected to be committed to ensuring their roster targets are met from both a quality andquantity perspective (considering both the importance of retaining our existing best andbrightest and also attracting new players of quality). Part of this process requiresengaging in phone calls, in person conversations and networking to ensure the bestquality players are made available to us. General:
