United States Department Agriculture is Hiring a Resource specialist Near Annapolis, MD

This position is located in the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Farm Production and Conservation (FPAC), Natural Resources Conservation Service (NCRS), Annapolis, Maryland.

Incumbent will apply expert knowledge and leadership for Geospatial Business Tools. Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement including time-in-grade restrictions, specialized experience and / or education, as defined below.

Time in grade : Current Federal employees applying for a promotion opportunity must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirements of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled (e.

g. one year at the GS-12 grade level for consideration for the GS-13 grade level; one year at the GS-13 grade level for consideration for the GS-14 grade level).

0401 Basic Education Requirement :

  • Degree : biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position;
  • Combination of Education and Experience : Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

In addition to meeting one of the Basic Requirements listed above, applicants must meet the following Minimum Qualifications Requirement in order to be considered :

Specialized Experience : To qualify for the GS-13 level, you must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level or higher in Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through Federal service.

Specialized experience is defined as experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled.

For this position, specialized experience is defined as :

  • Overseeing the direction for a wide range of complex natural resources management programs and initiatives;
  • Preparing responses utilized in the decision making process for other senior level policy makers;
  • Partnering with agency leadership ensuring consistency and technical compliance of natural resources management program functions;
  • Providing technical guidance and assistance in the development of geospatial sciences technology enabling conservation planning.

To qualify for the GS-14 level, you must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level or higher in Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through Federal service.

Specialized experience is defined as :

  • Providing direction for a wide range of complex natural resources management programs and initiatives;
  • Researching findings and technological advances in agricultural and natural resources conservation geospatial science technology;
  • Partnering with agency leadership ensuring consistency and technical compliance of natural resources management program functions;
  • Representing the division on committees and other technical / strategic planning groups in natural resources management program functions.

There is no education substitution for experience at the GS-13 / 14 grade levels.
