About The RoleThis position is responsible for providing administrative, logistical, and technical support for the Safety/Training department and Human Resources department. This position reports to the Director, Safety & Training.
Key Responsibilities
  • Requires excellent customer service skills and a willingness to work in a team environment.
  • Responsible for supporting the Department’s efforts to always provide effective and efficient safety value and customer service to its business partners.
  • Supports projects and requests in the areas of, but not limited to, human resources, safety, training, compliance, budget, contracts, records management, organizational effectiveness, and various special projects.
  • Coordinate the activities and provide administrative support to all members of each department.
  • This will require someone who is proactive, detail-oriented, and possesses exceptional organizational and communication skills.
  • Discretion and confidentiality.
  • Arrange meetings and events.
  • Provide travel arrangements as needed.
  • Full comprehension of office management systems and procedures and manage internal HR databases.
  • Excellent proficiency of MS Office; Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint to run reports and create consolidated data for managers as needed in the form of reports, presentations, and briefs. Database management a plus.
  • Contact Occupational Medical Clinics as needed.
  • Prepare records and electronic reports pertaining to safety activities such as accidents/incidents, Workers' Compensation, OSHA etc.
  • Monitor inventory of PPE and safety supply levels and requisition as needed.
  • Assist in coordinating training activities and apprentice program with other supervisory personnel and employees.
  • Document training activities in the appropriate programs for retention purposes.
  • Implement company and departmental policies, procedures, and service standards in conjunction with management.
  • Resolve customer complaints and answer customers' questions regarding policies and procedures.
  • Interpret safety policies and procedures and be able to provide employees with guidance in fulfilling their safety responsibilities.
  • Discuss opportunities for improvement and/or grievances with Safety Director.
  • Update procedures, policies, and standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Key Qualifications
  • High school diploma or Equivalent (GED)
  • Good attendance and punctuality.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize daily workload.
  • High level verbal and written communications skills.
Key Nice-To-Haves
  • Experience working in the utility industry is a plus.
  • Minimum of 2 (two) years of experience in professional office setting
  • Minimum of 2 (two) years of experience alpha/numeric data entry
Position Type/Expected Hours of WorkThis is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., 40 hours per week. This position infrequently requires long hours.

The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
