About The Role This position is responsible for the design for assigned transmission generation tie lines for Wind, Solar, Battery Energy Storage, and for stand-alone transmission line projects. Responsible for the design of transmission line projects from conception (Early Stage) through construction and commissioning (Execution). Develop and coordinate Transmission engineering related design activities as required to effectively serve our clients. Responsible for day-to-day work assignments on a project-specific basis, perform design tasks using specialized software, reviewing drafters’ drawings, and solving design issues as required.
Key Responsibilities
- The position requires the candidate to work within a multi-disciplinary team for the design of transmission lines.
- Produce engineering drawings, sketches, revisions, and maintain required records in accordance with procedures, practices, and safety regulations under the general supervision of a supervisor/mentor.
- Assist in collection of data in connection with materials, reports, and designs.
- Check manufacturers' prints for acceptability and make calculations as required.
- Performs drafting, design, and development of standard details, drawings, specifications and transmission/substation facilities, structures, and foundations
- Delivery of accurate and thorough designs that will meet industry standards and specifications and meet good engineering practice with excellent constructability.
- Assists in performing supervised calculations, drawings, specifications, and perform condition assessments and feasibility studies.
- Assists in Preparing input data for computerized solutions to engineering problems.
- Supports supervised detailed technical analysis, planning studies, and operational studies.
- Assist in preparation of progress reports, compliance documentation, and record-keeping of transmission technical documents and drawings.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required.
Key Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering or expected graduation in Spring 2024 from an ABET accredited college.
- No direct transmission engineering experience required.
- Requires coordination with other groups to ensure the projects are successful.
- Generally responsible for assigned tasks by more senior engineer(s).
- Collaborate with a team of engineering professionals.
- Results driven with strong planning, organizational skills, and a drive to learn
- Must be competent with the following Software:
- Microsoft Office Suite
- AutoCAD (strongly preferred)
- Bluebeam (preferred)
- Registration as Engineer in Training (EIT) is preferred.
Hybrid work setup is preferred. General office working conditions. Work outside regular schedule may be required. Must possess a valid driver's license and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report. Travel for work may also be required for relevant site visits.
