As Associate Director, Development (Major Gifts) you will develop and build relationships in the community to address the health and human service needs of the community through United Way Miami. Develop and maintain various fundraising initiatives to include individual and corporate fundraising. Manage an account portfolio of approximately 100-125 prospective and current donors at the $10,000 Tocqueville Society and higher, including goal setting. Identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward the same
Participates in all aspects of the gift cycle:
Initiate contacts with current Tocqueville Society and major donors
Initiate contacts with potential Tocqueville Society and major donors to generate new business
Develops appropriate cultivation strategies for them, including working with volunteers
Moves potential donors in an appropriate and timely fashion toward solicitation and closure
Makes solicitations when appropriate
Maintains stewardship contacts with donors; adheres to the highest ethical standards; demonstrates empathetic disposition, and perseverance; reflects optimistic and positive attitude, and conveys sensitivity to the needs of the donors
Ensures that all Tocqueville Society gifts are accounted for during the fiscal year
Participates in 15-20 donor meetings a month.
Works collaboratively with and in support of volunteers, other development staff, and other United Way staff to achieve the needs of the prospects.
Work with the Prospect Manager to identify new business and participate in prospect management activities to ensure coordination of cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities.
Attends United Way events as well as outside events for United Way representation, networking, etc.
Responsible for soliciting gifts of $10,000 and higher from individuals
Collaborate with the Development Officers to identify major and planned gift prospects within giving communities and employee campaigns to create, cultivate, and solicit Tocqueville Society donors.
Data management- strategically implements reports into the fundraising approach, utilizes United Way’s customer relationship management tool, Andar, and maintains data quality and integrity.
Work closely with team members including administrative, marketing, and engagement teams.
Identify prospects, engage them in the work of United Way, and secure appropriate revenues through cross-selling opportunities. Serves as a pipeline for overall fundraising efforts.
RequirementsEducation Requirements: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience Experience Requirements: Three to five years experience in fundraising or sales, presentation skills, and account management Technology Requirements: Advanced Word and Excel. CRM/database experience. Competence with web browsers, Office Suite/365 (including PowerPoint and Outlook) Other Essential Knowledge/Skills: Public speaking, understanding of people, ability to adapt to changing situations, ability to understand and analyze industry trends, sales ability, computer skills, basic math skills, and negotiation skills.
