As Specialist II, Communication at United Way Miami is crucial in increasing and enhancing the organization’s overall brand awareness across various mediums-externally, internally, and online. This role involves crafting and reviewing diverse materials, including newsletters, press releases, reports, website updates, and internal and external communications. The specialist supports various communications projects and coordinates with different departments to gather essential information. Additionally, the Communications Specialist II develops presentations to educate and inform stakeholders and the community about United Way Miami's initiatives. Serving as one of the team’s main content creators, this role is vital for overall brand awareness. Principal Duties And ResponsibilitiesKey duties include public and media relations and long/short form content creation and management that aid in fostering connection and engagement of employees, current/prospective donors, and volunteers.
Support all communications initiatives
Support in PR and Brand awareness efforts
Write and edit content for a variety of projects and mediums
Participate in team planning sessions and provide innovative ideas
Conduct thorough research and interviews
Work with the Marketing and Communications team to execute projects
Performs all other related job duties as assigned
Update website content (WordPress)
Written Communication Skills:
This position is well-suited for individuals who have a passion for written communication. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to create compelling content that resonates with a diverse audience.
Oral Communication Skills:
The Communications Specialist II needs to be an effective speaker, both in a group setting and one-on-one.
Tactfulness:
The Communications Specialist II must be tactful and possess leadership and interpersonal skills.

Experience Requirements: 5 years of experience writing for both mission-based organizations, corporate, multi-product brands, and consumers. Experience working on digital media and non-profit experience is a plus. Technology Requirements: Excellent computer skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint); Other Essential Knowledge/Skills: Strong skills in written and oral communication, public relations, website (WordPress), and media are essential for success in this position. Must have experience in drafting content for members of an executive team Highly motivated, organized content producer who is analytical and can formulate content for use across various communications channels. Knowledge of digital media, marketing, and advertising approaches. Ability to work under pressure while being attentive to details. Able to work with a wide variety of people, face-to-face and in writing. Comfortable working in a team within a very matrixed organization.
