Budgeted Salary Range:
$45,000 - $50,000 annually, based on a 37.5-hour work week, dependent on background and experience.

Essential Functions and Key Responsibilities:
  • Process bi-weekly payroll for approximately 60 employees. Serve as contact for United Way staff regarding payroll issues and questions.
  • Prepare payroll, benefit and other journal entries and prepare related account reconciliations
  • Prepare journal entries for fiscal agent payroll and benefits
  • Maintain agency group unemployment reporting, including reconciling monthly agency statements, recording agency deposits, and ensuring timely payments to ODJFS.
  • Prepare and/or review financial reports for assigned grant programs, coordinate and confirm appropriate supporting documentation to meet grant requirements
  • Serve as back-up for accounts payable processing as needed.
  • Responsible for various other assigned account reconciliations, journal entry preparation, general accounting transactions and preparation of internal financial reports.
  • Collaborate with staff in all departments, as well as donors, volunteers, vendors, agencies and independent auditors

Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position supervises interns as needed.
Responsibilities may include:
  • Assist with the planning, scheduling, directing and monitoring intern work.
  • Assist with training interns.
  • Maintain regular communication, addressing complaints/concerns and resolving issues that arise
Work Environment:
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copiers and filing cabinets.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to type, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift or move office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.

Expected Work Hours:
This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, 37.5 hours per week. Flexible daily hours may be available year-round. Daily work schedule and any flextime hours must be approved by the department head.
Travel:
No travel is expected for this position except for occasional training opportunities.
Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Two years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping with at least two years of experience in payroll required.
  • Associate degree in accounting or business-related field is preferred.
