The Care Management Associate Director drives the strategic development, growth, and operations to provide an innovative approach to care for members and engagement with stakeholders in the Long Term Services and Supports (LTSS) program, optimizing the use of the full spectrum of care options to bring these members, and their families, an experience where the emphasis is on care. A people leader, this position will lead a care team of approximately 10 nurses, care coordinators, case managers, and transition support members. This position will be based in Idaho.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Supports the development of an integrated Medicare-Medicaid and LTSS program to meet the needs of Idaho MMCP and IMPlus members and ensure UnitedHealthcare’s operations are aligned across all functional areas
  • Implements innovative member engagement, clinical programs, and affordability strategies for the integrated DSNP and LTSS program
  • Serve as a market leader for the health plan including direct leadership of a team of approximately 10 care coordinators, nurses, case managers, member transition staff
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for the health plan’s LTSS population
  • Develops strategies for member growth, retention and satisfaction
  • Oversees affordability planning and Value based contracting in the LTSS area
  • Aligns ID MMCP and IMPlus strategies and programs with UHC C&S National Product strategies including LTSS and Clinical core practices
  • Manages overall contractual compliance
  • Provides oversight for access and accommodations work
  • Develops, translates, leads and executes State-specific health plan strategies and programs
  • Serves as UHC representative on various state committees dealing with Medicaid, LTSS, and elder policy
  • Represents UnitedHealthcare at external events and organizations regarding the LTSS and interacts with Community and State leaders, and UHC Government Programs leaders
  • Provides input, as requested by the State, at State-level meetings
  • Promptly resolves any contractual issues identified by UnitedHealthcare or FSSA that may arise
  • Manages execution by delegating work to maximize productivity, exceed goals and improve performance
  • Provides leadership to and is accountable for customer satisfaction, provider satisfaction and financial and operational performance of the LTSS program

Required Qualifications:

  • 3 years of experience in Medicare/Medicaid, at-risk managed care environment
  • 3 years working in a matrix organization
  • Experience in strategic planning and development 
  • Experience executing short- and long-term growth and profitability targets and previous profit and loss experience 
  • Demonstrated successful leadership skills in program execution and people management
  • Proven leadership skills in both internal and external environments, including creating and delivering persuasive presentations on complex topics to management and public groups
  • Reside in Idaho

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience in Medicare/Medicaid, at-risk managed care environment
  • 5 years of experience in a senior leadership capacity
  • 5 years of experience administering long-term care programs and experience administering LTSS with the program population
  • 5 years working in a matrix organization
