The Sr. Project Manager I is within the Optum Controllership, specifically the Accounting Operations & Analysis Team (AOA), and will be part of the PeopleSoft ERP (PSERP) business onboarding team and the billing team. This role will be responsible for planning, project execution and closing of business migrations into PSERP, onboarding new product offerings into PSERP and other projects related to the overall mission and vision of the AOA team.

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Accountable for leading and driving success for PSERP migration, new product offering, and departmental improvement projects including: 
    • Partner with the internal clients and stakeholders at many levels to confirm project scope and identify specific tasks, duration and effort required for successful project execution
    • Create and maintain project plan identifying project duration, effort, sequence, and dependencies of tasks required to meet project objectives
    • Create and manages documentation of decisions, issues, and risk logs (IRAAD) including mitigation, avoidance, transfer, and/or acceptance of these items 
    • Monitor and document project milestones and outcomes throughout the project
    • Develop and implement contingency and recovery plans when deliverables are missed (e.g., identify critical path, document, and plan for getting back on project schedule)
    • Conduct status calls at an agreed upon cadence and create and distribute weekly status reports
    • Create kick off deck following templates created by AOA PM team and lead kick off meetings
    • Sets up all project meetings and manages agenda for each meeting. Takes notes and distributes to meeting attendees and project team.
    • Creates communication and training plans for team to review
    • Drafts written communications
  • Escalates issues with project executive sponsors promptly 
  • Lead and coordinate projects that span multi-departmental and cross-functional areas ensuring inclusivity of all parties in project plan
  • Collaborates with the AOA PM team to enhance and consistently improve our project management strategy and artifacts
  • Presents project status updates at monthly department meetings

This role will challenge your ability to work on complex projects where deadlines and scope can shift. The role requires flexibility, agility and the ability to adapt to change and ambiguity while maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders in a matrixed environment.Strong communication skills, ability to prioritize work and balance competing priorities are essential for this role.

Required Qualifications: 

  • 4 years of experience in tracking, planning projects, working with large data sets and making data-driven analytical decisions
  • Experience with projects related to financial systems (billing and revenue applications, preferred)
  • Experience acting as a liaison between business and technical teams 
  • Proficiency with MS Project, Excel, Visio, Word and PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate ideas clearly and concisely to leadership 
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and balance multiple demands and competing deadlines 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • PMP Certification
  • Agile Experience
  • Experience with Healthcare industry 
  • Experience in large scale ERP environment 
  • Experience working in a global organization
  • Understanding of various pricing and revenue structures
  • Advanced communication skills, verbal and written

California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, or Washington Residents Only: The salary range for this role is $88,000 to $173,200 annually. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
