Unitus Community Credit Union is Hiring a Sr. Accountant Near Portland, OR
Primary duties:
- Oversee GAAP accounting interpretation, implementation, and processing of subsidiary accounting and other major company projects. Includes, but not limited to, intercompany accounting, eliminating journal entries, standard journal entries, reconciliations, budget preparation & tracking, and consolidating financial statements.
- Support and reviews complex accounting functions, such as lease accounting ASC 842, fixed assets, month-end/year-end processing, accounts payable, payroll, complex general ledger reconciliations & journal entries, tax reporting, general ledger accuracy, and other department assignments.
- Support Assistant Controller and Controller with regulatory examinations and audit preparations, as well as the timely and accurate completion of monthly/quarterly/yearly financial and regulatory reporting.
- Perform as key backup and resource to members of accounting team, to ensure accounting department coverage, and solve problems that arise in the department’s daily activity. Support Assistant Controller in communications of policies, develop procedures and internal practices, perform quality review of work performed by other members of accounting team, and prepare general accounting team training.
- Assist in the oversight of accounting systems and controls, serving as a resource for other departments to guide and advise on accounting related issues.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or closely related field or equivalent in work experience.
- Minimum of five years of progressively responsible work experience in accounting that includes applying knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and practices and performing complex accounting functions.
- Technical accounting experience with intercompany accounting and consolidating financial statements is required.
- Experience using accounting databases and report writing software.
- Experience working at a financial institution is preferred.
- Lease accounting ASC 842 and/or Fixed asset accounting experience preferred.
- CPA or CMA preferred.
