- Review course content and teach skills to assist the student in understanding the content
- Contact faculty on course content but not on specific exam questions
- Support and encourage tutee with honest and appropriate feedback
- Interact skillfully and professionally, creating a positive learning environment
- Assist tutee with time management or organizational skills
- Hold tutoring sessions on campus during library hours and other approved times
- Sign in and out on the tutoring log located in the library
- Limit a tutoring group to no more than five students
- Complete all employment paperwork and submit hours logged to the Dean of Student Services
- Maintain confidentiality of student and college information
- Refer students to the Department Chair of the program or the Dean of Students Services regarding any academic policies, academic processes and/or concerning behavior the student may be exhibiting
- Demonstrates the UnityPoint Health Values and Standards of Behaviors as well as adheres to policies and procedures and safety guidelines.
- Demonstrates ability to meet business needs of department with regular, reliable attendance.
- Employee maintains current licenses and/or certifications required for the position.
- Practices and reflects knowledge of HIPAA, TJC, DNV, OSHA and other federal/state regulatory agencies guiding healthcare.
- Completes all annual education and competency requirements within the calendar year.
- Is knowledgeable of hospital and department compliance requirements for federally funded healthcare programs (e.g. Medicare and Medicaid) regarding fraud, waste and abuse. Brings any questions or concerns regarding compliance to the immediate attention of hospital administrative staff. Takes appropriate action on concerns reported by department staff related to compliance.

Education:
Currently enrolled at St. Luke’s College
Currently enrolled in the bachelor degree program, diploma or associate of science degree in Biology, Nursing, Radiologic Technology, Medical Laboratory Science, Respiratory Care or comparable degree
Experience:
One semester of enrollment that is higher than the tutee’s current semester enrollment
2 years in field of study
License(s)/Certification(s):
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Communication skills, organizational skills, public relations, interpersonal computer, group presentation skills, telephone skills and etiquette, strong knowledge base on course content
Other:
Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position.
