Universal Avionics is Hiring a Material Planner 2 Near Tucson, AZ

Universal Avionics (UA) has been in business for over 40 years, continuously making huge strides in business, commercial, and military avionics. Our company continues to move the avionics industry forward by designing the next generation of technology as well as the latest iterations of our flagship products to ensure easier management and safety & reliability of all phases of flight. We are currently seeking a Material Planner who has experience with MRPs and managing production schedules.

As UA's Material Planner, you will be an important part of the team by planning, organizing, controlling, and executing a production schedule for a designated product or products, including program coordination.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Develops production schedules based on actual and forecasted customer demand, product demand profiles and knowledge of the customer.
  • Analyzes inputs (e.g., capacity, board cycle times, urgency of request, material availability, etc.) to help determine schedule.
  • Analyzes internal impact (e.g., line scheduling, procurement, logistics, shipping, etc.) of customer scheduling. 
  • Revises plans as required based on analysis of actuals versus plan.
  • Manages issues associated with engineering changes to ensure minimal cost exposure, excess materials and risk to customer shipment. 
  • Communicates information on materials availability to support build plans throughout the product life cycle.
  • Maintains knowledge of customer volume fluctuations and determines the materials required.
  • Provides information to procurement on demand variances.
  • Coordinates necessary resources to meet shipment commitments.
  • Reviews and reports on aggregate levels of product inventory, inventory exposure, backlog, availability and on-time delivery.
  • Develops recovery plans if missed shipments occur.
  • Leads continuous improvement of planning processes.
  • MRP System experience (planning)
  • Manage production schedules to meet customer need date and company goals
  • Communicates with internal departments to relay status updates and issues
  • Support Master Scheduler

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business-related field or 4 years' experience in planning position.

Computer Skills

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft software i.e., Word, Outlook, Excel. Access (helpful)
  • Experience with MRP and forecasting tools

Language Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as procedures, Bills of Materials, and other related documentation.
