JOB SUMMARY: Manage Universal Creative (UC) facility planning, design and FF&E standardization. Conceptualize and develop drawings required to address UC space allocation, design and requirements. Manage facility and space design for new or renovation projects, by developing budget, creating implementation plan and execute as required. Direct, manage, and monitor vendor and consultant progress throughout design and construction or project process.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Acts as the UC Facilities Management (FM) representative and guardian of UC space standards, planning, and design. Conceptualizes/creates and or directs consultants to create renovation or build plans. Reviews FM managed or other UOR project teams produced plans and assures all plans, including layout and materials meet UC FM’s space and design standards. Utilizes techniques, skills, references local and state code requirements, ADA standards, design rules and specifications to prepare or prepare/review layouts, determine scales, renditions, variations, etc., required in a full range of design requirements.
  • Project Manages renovation and build projects, from inception to completion. Including space layout and facility design, scope of work creation, FF&E specification/procurement/installation, vendor/contactor or internal partner engagement, work oversight, budget tracking and following through to final space turn over.
  • Collect organizational and or operational requirements data from Division/Department representatives, Business Analytics, Facilities Management Department Head and other resources to develop space plans that address current and projected future requirements, to best create efficient working environments.
  • Primary contact for UC furniture/fixture standards. Develop and or maintain standards as required, taking into consideration equity, design aesthetics, finish selection, best ergonomic practices, and product life cycle planning. Create and or maintain UC Standards reference documents.
  • Directs and/or approves finish selections, materials, and plans/drawings from internal partners, consultants, and vendors. Signs and or reviews every item included, referencing and comparing to FM/UC standards and confirming it is within budget.
  • Prepares and presents space and design plans for senior leadership and internal partners review, approval, and use.
  • Responsible for providing clarifications and in-field solutions to contractors or internal partners during construction phase, utilizing drawings, sketches, and other means as necessary.
  • Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

  • Ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing with internal clients and partnering departments, outside contractors, architectural/engineering, consultants, and vendors.
  • Knowledge and use of AutoCAD, Revit, SpaceIQ or other design software for space and design planning purposes required.
  • Knowledge and interpretation of architectural drawings and documents.
  • Must have solid management experience to include: Project Management, Capital planning, ADA Standards, OSHA requirements, General Code Knowledge, Telecommunications, vendor management, Contract compliance.
  • Licensed Architect or Interior Design Preferred.

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Interior Design.

EXPERIENCE: 5 years of related work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Must be proficient with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Adobe and Office suite applications
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
