“Universal Supply Company is seeking experienced candidates for our Outside Sales Representative position with a specialty in Drywall and associated products. The ideal candidate will have 3 years’ experience as an outside rep selling drywall and metal framing in both residential and commercial environments. A candidate with an existing customer base will be strongly considered. After establishing a strong roster of drywall customers, there will be additional opportunity to sell our entire portfolio of products. How you will spend your day as an Outside Sales Representative:

  • You will build new relationships and support existing customers and contractors.
  • Travel to cold call contractor offices and job sites in your territory.
  • You will assist in collecting accounts receivables.
  • You will qualify accurate time frame in which customer will need material and place orders based on vendor lead-times.
  • Resolves customer complaints and problems.
  • Ability to effectively communicate concepts and recommended courses of action to meet and exceed budgets.
  • Attends and participates in all company-sponsored training programs as required.
  • Works with other existing exteriors sales reps to grow share of wallet and leads.
  • You will partner with your customers by assisting them with product selection, communicate trends, new product releases, upcoming promotions, delivery dates on purchases.
  • Be your customer’s business partner.
  • You will prepare bids, material estimates from customer/contractor supplied blueprints.
  • You will assist in collecting accounts receivables.
  • You may prepare and input orders if necessary.
  • Read blueprints, provide estimates on material needs.

Outside Sales Representative Requirements:

  • Special Skills. Ability to operate computer, calculator and cash register.
  • Technical Skills. Computer Experience using MS Office Products.
  • Knowledge. Previous building material and drywall products knowledge. (Preferred).
  • Licenses. Must hold a clear and valid driver’s license.
  • Communication. Excellent interpersonal and customer relation skills (Required).
  • Education. Some college in Business (Preferred) or equivalent in experience.
  • Sales Experience. 3 years Sales Experience in building materials or construction industry.
  • Physical Demands. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and up to 50 lbs on a random basis.
  • Teamwork. Ability to work as a team and help motivate others.
  • Excellence. Must have an excellent attendance history with a work ethic to match.
