Description

POSITION PURPOSE/STATEMENT

Delivers on University Credit Union’s Service Promises and Core Values to engage in behaviors that create member loyalty. This position is responsible for the overall support of the Payments channel at University Credit Union including, but not limited to: Debit Card, Credit Card, Person-to-Person, BillPay, ATM, ACH & Wire. This position also provides overall systems support including systems responsibilities, fraud detection and protection, member experience within the channel, and direct support to complimentary services inside of UCU. Additionally, responsible for the forward-looking strategy of the payments function of UCU, serving as the internal expert. This position also owns the vendor relationships of our payments processors and systems providers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES

  • Responsible for driving increased member adoption of various UCU payment channels while increasing efficiency of offering and maintaining performance of those channels.
  • Develop and implement business rules and processes around payment practices in collaboration with stakeholders, including campaigns that increase member adoption and usage manage maintenance of and adherence to policies.
  • Lead product discovery efforts for payments channels, including new features and operational enhancements, and compliance with industry regulations.
  • Analyze behavioral data, create segmentation schemes and profiles to increase understanding of member behavior trends and opportunities.
  • Lead execution of all payments related activities.
  • Develop and implement fraud and risk mitigation factors.
  • Oversee, investigate and resolve payments issues and fraud claims in collaboration with third party payment providers and various internal team.
  • Lead exception scenarios such as stopping/returning ACH payments, clearing stuck payments, etc.
  • Work across multiple departments to ensure effective communication, process implementation, and loss mitigation.
  • Manage vendor relationships of payments processors and systems providers.
  • Interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested to perform.

PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS

  • Implementation of and adherence to business rules and processes regarding payment practices.
  • Increasing members adoption/usage of UCU credit and debit card products (activation, usage and portfolio balances).
  • Implementing appropriate fraud and risk mitigation factors and ensuring the factors work.
  • Improving/modernizing processes within the Payments department.
  • Proactive identification of issues and handing appropriately to ensure they do not become larger issues.

Qualifications


QUALIFICATIONS

  • The ideal candidate must have a bachelor’s degree, Master’s Degree preferred.
  • 7 or more years-10 of related card and payment services experience and/or training. Work related experience must consist of payment services managing and processing.
  • Ability to make appropriate judgments and decisions with limited guidance.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of Consumer Credit Cards, Commercial Credit Cards and Debit Cards products and services; related state and federal laws and regulations, and other operational policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking capability as it applies to product development and adoption.
  • Organizational and time management skills with the ability to multitask in a high-stress environment.
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions, interpret documents, understand procedures, complete and speak clearly.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • Experience with Mastercard products preferred.
  • Experience working with PSCU preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to sit for extended periods at a time;
  • Must be able to stoop, bend, reach;
  • Must be able to view data from computer screens, reports and manuals.
  • Must have manual dexterity to use computer keyboards.
  • Eye/hand coordination to handle equipment when needed.
