Position Summary

The primary purpose of this position is to lead the development, implementation and facilitation of centralized academic faculty support systems including but not limited to the integration of instructional methodology and technology that will be used in the School of Dentistry for all programs including continuing education.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee systems related to faculty assistance in the analysis, design, and development of effective and efficient instructional programs, materials, and delivery systems;
  • Work with a wide range of multimedia software including audio, video, web, animation and photo to develop materials for online, hybrid, and face-to-face courses in all settings to promote an active learning environment;
  • Oversee the conversion of courses including but not limited to instructional materials,assessments and course websites to support a contemporary hybrid learning environment;
  • Manage the development of instructional media and web-based interactive learning modules;
  • Manage the development of training materials/modules and conduct training sessions for faculty, staff, students and residents in instructional technology;
  • Conduct research to identify and implement emerging academic technologies in a variety of pedagogical contexts for use in School of Dentistry programs;
  • Oversee the troubleshooting of technical course design issues with faculty and provide high quality, comprehensive and timely instructional support;
  • Lead the utilization of learning management systems in use, including Blackboard, as a means for optimal course accessibility;
  • Collaborate with faculty, co-workers, students and residents on School-wide projects;
  • Participate on McNichols and School of Dentistry committees as assigned;
  • Troubleshoot software and hardware issues; identify alternative systems if necessary;
  • Provide day to day management of academic technology used during didactic and simulation courses;
  • Work collaboratively with outside vendors, consultants, McNichols Libraries/Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning/Instructional Design Studio and/or Dental IT to implement instructional technology solutions;
  • Participate in setting policies regarding the acquisition, installation, licensing and maintenance of hardware and software for instructional technologies;
  • Serve as a liaison to University related activities;
  • Assist with accreditation activities;
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Employment Verification – Five years to seven years.tificate or graduate degree.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies, Electronic Critique, Instructional Technology or related field preferred.
  • 2 years of experience in web-based instructional design preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Advanced skill and experience in Blackboard Course Management System and MS Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Publisher and Windows 10.
  • Intermediate to advances skill in using web and media-based technologies for education and assessment including, but not limited to Articulate, Captivate, Qualtrics, Camtasia, Adobe Creative Suite, HTML, HTML5, JavaScript, ExamSoft, Googledocs, Second Life, Wimba, Sakai, Yuja, and Cascade.
  • Knowledge of instructional design principles, online course development standards and procedures, and educational application of social media;
  • Ability to work and train in both a PC and Macintosh environment;
  • Have a strong commitment to quality customer service;
  • Have polished and professional interpersonal and verbal/written skills;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to coordinate/oversee multiple projects and to adhere to established deadlines;

Physical Requirements

Job may require lifting light weight objects (1 to 10 pounds) with no repetitive bending or stooping. Occasionally lift average weight objects (1 to 10 pounds).

Work Environment

Regular exposure to favorable conditions such as those found in a normal office.

Salary/Pay Information

Commensurate with experience

Anticipated Schedule

Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
