QualificationsMaster of Education in Counseling from an APA accredited program required. Two (2) years of related experience in an acute care setting with a concentration in trauma, utilizing counseling skills. Certification in Thanatology or Grief Counseling required. Post master’s experience in the behavioral health field, preferably in an outpatient medical setting preferred. Excellent working knowledge of behavioral medicine and evidence-based treatments for medical and mental health conditions. Ability to work through brief patient contacts as well as to make quick and accurate assessments of behavioral conditions. Should be comfortable with the pace of primary care, working on an interdisciplinary team and having strong communication skills. Computer literate with competence in Microsoft Office. Excellent communication skills required. Bilingual preferred (English/Spanish).
