General Description
The purpose of this position is to oversee the academic support components of the TRIO Student Support Services Program.
Essential Job Duties
1. Plan and implement the tutor-training schedule, including skills building in instructional techniques, study skills, communication skills, etc.
2. Recruit, hire, train and supervise tutors.
3. Maintain contacts with key faculty, staff, departments, and colleges to seek recommendations for tutorial staffing.
4. Monitor participants’ academic progress and consult with their faculty.
5. Provide academic skills/success workshops and seminars as needed.
6. Create and implement online workshops as feasible.
7. Serve as supplemental adviser in the areas of academic advising, career planning, guidance/personal counseling.
8. Make referrals to appropriate university/community resources as appropriate.
9. Enlist faculty and staff to join in the presentation of the sessions when feasible.
10. Serve as primary staff responsible for managing the AccuTrack tracking database and the social media page.
11. Prepare routine and special reports as required (e.g., End-of-Year Report, grant-related documentation).
12. Maintain awareness of federal legislation/regulations related to TRIO programs.
13. Coordinate the activities of the Peer Coaches with the Project Specialist.
14. Facilitate study sessions and academic success workshops.
15 Provide direct professional services to program participants and working with a small caseload of participants to provide supplemental academic, professional and personal advising as needed. Attend and present at professional conferences.
Additional Duties

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to work successfully as a team member as well as independently;
Demonstrate flexibility and proven interpersonal skills;
Ability to work cooperatively;
Strong computer skills with a working knowledge of MS Office and student database management;
Knowledge of Canvas software preferred;
Ability to attend and present at conferences
Education and Experience
Educational Requirement: Master’s degree in a discipline-specific content area, or in Education, Psychology, Sociology or Student Affairs, or a related discipline.
Education substituted for experience? No
Experience Requirement: Two years of as an administrator, teacher, etc.; minimum of one year working in a college/university environment
Experience Preferred: Prior experience in student success services, such as advising at-risk populations, mentoring, tutoring and alternative learning support programs, study skills development, academic advising and assessment of student retention.
Experience substituted for education? Additional job related experience and/or education, that substantiates the required knowledge to perform duties of position, may substitute for the required education.
