The Lead Tutor works directly under a Learning Commons Program Director to help manage their respective programs. Duties may include: Primarily responsible of assigning and tracking remote work assignments. Assisting with tracking schedule changes, providing employee training, and overseeing shift leads. Troubleshooting data tracking software and technology. Proofreading, data processing and records maintenance. Tutoring students and staff in various content areas and instructional settings including classrooms, workshops, seminars, individualized appointments online and in-person, small groups, and/or ancillary support programs. Must work in-person at least three days per week, minimum of 15 hours.

To thrive in this role, applicants must independently schedule and convene appointments and to work assigned hours, possibly including evening or weekends. Must possess excellent problem solving, organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills. Ability to work with a diverse population. Ability to effectively explain and demonstrate academic content concepts using a variety of teaching and rhetorical strategies.

Minimum Qualifications:

Passed courses within the program subjects with a 3.5 GPA or higher. Previously worked two semesters as a Learning Commons tutor, and familiar with Navigate360 and UAOnline. Skills with Microsoft Office or Google programs preferred, but not required.

Position Details:

This is a part-time, non-exempt staff position located at the University Alaska campus in Anchorage. New hires will be placed on the UA temporary staff salary schedule, grade 75. Salary: $17.67 an hour.
