Summary of Job Duties :

The Computer Operator is responsible for assisting students, faculty, and staff by providing hardware and software support.

The ideal candidate for this position should possess strong problem-solving skills, excellent communication abilities, and a willingness to provide outstanding customer service.

They should be adaptable, detail-oriented, and capable of handling multiple tasks efficiently. Additionally, physical strength is necessary for handling computer equipment, and a basic understanding of IT concepts is essential for troubleshooting various technical issues effectively.

This position is governed by state and federal laws and institution policy.

Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

Qualifications :

Minimum Qualifications :

The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma

At least one year of computer or network support experience

Experience with the operations of personal computers and the functions of various software

Physical capability to lift and handle computer equipment for setups and deliveries

Preferred Qualifications :

Experience with workday, Team Dynamix, or other ERP / Ticketing systems

Scripting / Coding experience with languages and tools such as PowerShell or Python

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :

Knowledge of the operations of personal computers and the functions of the software used

Knowledge of endpoint / Intune management for Microsoft administration

Linux software installation and administration skills

Knowledge of automation tools such as PowerShell, python, and Linux shell scripting

Database knowledge and skills, including development skills for internal use such as inventory management

Ability to train and supervise lab assistants and organize lab space

Ability to determine cause of computer or software problems and resolve or refer for maintenance and repair

Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
