Departmental Overview
The teaching and research activities of the Department of Molecular and Cell Biology (MCB) concern the molecular structures and processes of cellular life and their roles in the function, reproduction, and development of living organisms. This agenda covers a broad range of specialized disciplines, including biochemistry, biophysics, molecular biology, structural biology, genetics, genomics, bioinformatics, cell biology, developmental biology, tumor biology, microbiology, immunology, pathogenesis and neurobiology.
The Robey lab is interested in how signaling pathways control cell fate decisions. By using T cell development and immune responses in the mouse as model systems, we can take advantage of the powerful genetic approaches available in the mouse, while learning about a mammalian immune system that is very close to our own. Our lab also makes extensive use of 2-photon imaging approaches to observe and analyze T cell behavior in real-time in situ.
The Lab is seeking a Staff Research Associate 1 to support and facilitate the experiments of Robey Lab researchers.

Responsibilities
In collaboration with PI, perform in vitro experiments to examine T cell function and development . Involves using a variety of techniques including tissue culture, molecular biology, flow cytometry, etc.
In collaboration with PI perform experiments to examine immune responses to Toxoplasma gondii using both in vivo and in vitro assays.
Maintains breeding colonies of genetically engineered strains of mice. Supports maintenance of other lab members breeding colonies. Involves keeping breeding records, typing mice using PCR and flow cytometry.
General lab maintenance
Required Qualifications
BA in biology or related discipline and/or equivalent experience/training
Familiarity with Molecular and Cellular Biology techniques
Demonstrated interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications
At least one year of research experience
Knowledge of cell culture
Knowledge of PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction), midi/mini preparation
Experience maintaining mouse colonies
Salary & Benefits
This is an hourly paid (non-exempt) position. Hourly rate will be commensurate with experience (stepped rates).
