The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at UC Davis School of Medicine is seeking an individuals to fill the Peter and Sophie Pappas Endowed Chair for Spinal Surgery. The holder of the Peter and Sophie Pappas Endowed Chair for Spinal Surgery will be a senior faculty member who is an active board-certified, fellowship-trained spine surgeon in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery whose specialty is in the area of spinal surgery and whose distinguished scholarship is nationally recognized.
The initial term of the Peter and Sophie Pappas Endowed Chair for Spinal Surgery is for five years, with the option of reappointment per regularly established University procedures for endowed chair/professorship appointments (APM 191, UCD 191).
EXPECTATIONS & QUALIFICATIONS
The Peter and Sophie Pappas Endowed Chair for Spinal Surgery will play an integral role in emboldening innovation and education in musculoskeletal health, with particular attention to spine pathology. This inaugural endowed chair holder will have expectations that will include:
Engagement in teaching and scholarly activities focused in the area of spinal surgery and spinal pathology.
Regular and meaningful contribution to teaching clinical courses graduate programs in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery.
Conduct research on spinal pathology and perform service to the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and the broader community in which it is situated.
Provide leadership in the area of spine research and be fully engaged in activities in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery.
Enhance the academic and intellectual life of the campus as a whole.
