The Division of Finance and Administration (DFA) provides services and support to over 50,000 students, faculty, and staff with the mission of advancing UCI's brilliant future and the vision of becoming world-class campus partners. DFA serves the university as planning partners, problem solvers, and solution providers—striving to make it as easy as possible for people to get the services they need, when they need them.
Real Estate Services provides subject matter expertise on real estate strategy and delivers strategic transaction and portfolio management plans that support the campus and UCI Health. The department manages the acquisition and disposition of real property, provides asset management guidance for leased space, and participates in the development of new campus buildings through public/private partnerships. The department also oversee Facility Use Agreements and Licenses for third-party use of campus space, and faculty housing assistance programs.

Under the minimal direction of the Assistant Vice Chancellor, the Senior Director of Real Estate Services oversees operations of a department responsible for a wide array of real estate management activities supporting campus-wide objectives. The role involves accountability for administrative planning, staffing coordination, and resource management within the department. Directing a team of professionals, responsibilities include financial analysis for contract negotiations, lease management strategy development, real estate support for development projects, provision of home loan services, and analysis of space utilization metrics for leased properties. The Senior Director serves as the technical expert in evaluating and negotiating property acquisitions, leases, and sales for the University. Leveraging expert administration skills, they provide leadership and professional services to ensure the optimal use of the University's real estate assets, aligning with strategic objectives. Proficient in one or more disciplines related to real estate analysis, decision-making, and negotiation, they may represent the real estate office in various academic compliance committees, meetings, and conferences at local, state, and federal levels. Their decision-making is informed by established procedures, integration of relevant laws and regulations, and adherence to organizational policies and professional best practices.Your Role on the Team

  • Expert knowledge of real estate principles and practices, methods and procedures used in competitive real estate transactions, including value analysis and sources, selection techniques, applicable rules, regulations, laws, policies, guidelines and practices. Required
  • Expert knowledge of real estate law, the California Public Contract Code and an expert in understanding the University's Business and Finance Bulletins and other relevant rules, guidelines, policies and practices. Required
  • Expert knowledge of and skills in business transactions in a complex legal and policy environment. Required
  • Expert organizational, presentation and negotiation skills. Required
  • Expert written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, including expert ability to deal with broad and diverse constituencies with expert customer service orientation and skills. Required
  • Expert listening and political acumen skills, and problem recognition, avoidance and resolution skills. Required
  • In-depth knowledge of commercial real estate laws and regulations, leasing, property and asset management, appraisal, and land use planning. Ability to apply policy knowledge to proactively identify potential risk areas in real estate management. Required
  • Advanced ability to collaborate with senior management on setting objectives, defining goals, and managing real estate transactions and long-term projects. Highly adaptive to change. Required
  • Strategic problem-solving skills to evaluate complex or new issues and identify options for resolution when no precedent exists. Demonstrated analytical skills to probe, challenge, and question the status quo. Required
  • Advanced user of software programs. Knowledge of alternative industry software programs; ability to identify technological inefficiencies, research alternatives and recommend improvements to existing technology. Required
  • Advanced knowledge of real estate related UC policies and processes. Preferred

The expected pay range for this recruitment is $123,500.00- $241,900.00 (Annual).
Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
  • Valid California Driver's license
  • California Real Estate Salesperson's or Broker's license preferred.
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience 7 or more years of progressively responsible experience with real estate services
