Responsibilities:

Position Summary:

Incumbent serves as a resource to staff in handling and troubleshooting difficult accounts, monitoring workflow, monitoring productivity, and identifying underlying AR issues and make recommendations for resolving such issues, with particular emphasis in the FQHC programs. Serves as a department-wide resource and trainer as it relates to the FQHC program.

Required Qualifications:

  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Previous experience in a healthcare setting
  • Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
  • Must have working experience in billing and collections of Medi-Cal programs (Medi-Cal Managed Care, CalOptima, Every Woman Counts, Family Pact, Presumptive Eligibility, CHDP, California Children Services, etc.)
  • Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
  • Must be able to facilitate accurate and timely billing and collections
  • Minimum 3 years experience in medical billing and/or clinical customer service and handling patient account issues
  • Knowledge of CPT, HCPCS and ICD-9 coding, authorization requirements and related documentation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
  • Ability to analyze and resolve complex problems

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
