University of California - Los Angeles Health is Hiring a MRI Technologist - Radiation Oncology Near Los Angeles, CA

DescriptionThe MR Technologist, under the supervision of the Manager of Radiation Therapy, Director of MRI Operations, and Radiation Oncology Clinical Director, performs basic and complex MR imaging procedures, including post-processing tasks.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Imaging Procedures: Conduct MR imaging procedures requiring a physician's presence, use of advanced equipment (MRI scanners, MR-safe injectors, patient monitoring devices, drug infusion systems), involvement in surgical or interventional procedures, and vascular injections of paramagnetic contrast media.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Demonstrate an understanding of human cross-sectional anatomy, physiology, pathology, pharmacology, and medical terminology. Maintain high accuracy in patient positioning and image acquisition.
  • Safety and Compliance: Maintain magnetic field safety, properly screen all patients and visitors before admittance into the MR magnet room, and prepare and administer paramagnetic contrast media according to department, hospital, state, and federal regulations.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of procedures, ensure proper processing of Radiology requisitions/orders in the Radiology Information System, and perform accurate image archival and verification on GE PACS Centricity workstations.
  • Support and Liaison: Act as the primary liaison between patients, radiologists, radiation oncologists, and support teams. Provide patient assessment, education, monitoring, and care, addressing physical and emotional needs through effective communication.
  • Work Flexibility: Float between various scanning locations staffed by the UCLA Department of Radiology and Radiation Oncology. Adhere to on-call, holiday, weekend, and rotating shift schedules as prepared by the manager or director.
  • Policy Adherence: Follow departmental and hospital policies, including health and infection control protocols. Initiate maintenance or repair requests for equipment, inspect devices for damage, and ensure they operate within accepted parameters.
  • Certifications: Maintain current CRT, ARRT, and CPR certifications.
Salary: $49.73 - $65.56 hourly
Qualifications

Required:

  • Basic typing skills to input various data into information systems.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of clinical billing (IDX codes) to ensure appropriate accounting and reimbursement of services rendered.
  • Knowledge of cross-platform computers, application and peripherals, as well as general office equipment.
  • Ability to adapt to advancements and changing technologies.
  • License: ARRT(R) or ARMRIT, ARRT(MR), and CPR
  • Graduate AMA Radiologic Tech Program or Accredited ARMRIT program
  • Ability to respond appropriately to emergency situations.
  • Understands the requirement of EMTALA (Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act).
  • Ability to identify and recognize contraindications for exams
  • Skill in reading documents written in standard English, including (but not limited to) requisitions, medical documents, policy and procedure manuals, technical procedure manuals, operator manuals, equipment manuals and other written instructions.
  • Knowledge of medical and scientific terminology, with the ability to distinguish between types of medical procedures and diagnoses
  • Knowledge of human anatomy and pathology.

Preferred:

  • 1 year of MRI
  • AA or BS
  • ARRT(MR)
  • Venipuncture certificate
