Job Summary

**This position is at our Bayfront location, in San Francisco, CA.**
The Hospital Unit Service Coordinator (HUSC), under the direction of the Patient Care Unit Manager, Nursing Supervisor, OR Charge Nurse, functions as the source of the focal communication within the patient care unit and performs administrative functions directed toward positive patient care outcomes.
All patient care team members are responsible to meet patient needs, demonstrate a willingness to learn new skills, and foster a harmonious work environment in which high-quality patient care and customer service are consistently provided.Team members promote a cooperative working relationship with each other, physicians, other disciplines, and the public by facilitating and enhancing communication, displaying honesty and respect, displaying sensitivity to cultural differences, and expressing and accepting feedback in a professional manner.Our legacy of unsurpassed patient care and unceasing mission to integrate high-tech medical research with clinical operations has led to our prestigious standing as one of the top 10 hospitals in the nation according to U.S. News & World Report. Department Description

The UCSF Bayfront Operating Room (OR) consists of 14 surgical suites and 2 procedural rooms with 23 hours surgical stay facility. Our primary focus is multidisciplinary team-based approach and staffing, advanced technology, including integrated suites and robotic surgery. Services include, but are not limited to: Ophthalmology, Otolaryngology, Head and Neck (OHNS), Urology, Benign Gynecology, Plastics, Pain Service, and General Surgery with Robotics.

Required Qualifications

  • Three years recent experience in a health care setting
  • Previous database/data entry experience
  • High School Diploma; or equivalent experience
  • Medical terminology knowledge
  • Ability to work in a busy, team-oriented environment
  • Ability to understand and communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic computations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
  • Ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple tasks
  • Ability to satisfactorily perform job duties as defined in the job description
  • Excellent interpersonal/communication skills to effectively interact with a diverse professional and patient population
  • Willingness to be taught/learn new skills
  • Demonstrated customer service skills/experience
  • Basic computer and typing skills
  • This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Unit Clerk experience in a hospital setting
  • Knowledge of and ability to use office equipment
  • Experience working with excel, and teams' applications
