Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Director of Nursing and the Ambulatory Chief of Cardiology, guided by the policies and procedures of the Ambulatory Care Center, and in collaboration with the physicians and other clinical staff in the Cardiology Clinic, the Clinical Nurse 2 is responsible for providing safe, efficient nursing care to patients in the UCSF Mission Bay outpatient Cardiology practice. Triage patients and responds appropriately according to protocol and nursing assessment. The Clinical Nurse 2 utilizes the nursing process (Assessment, Planning, Implementation and Evaluation) to provide safe and therapeutic clinical care.
The Clinical Nurse 2 also provides clinical support to Providers and participates as part of the health care team to assure coordination and continuity of patient care.
Performs nursing activities as ordered by the physician, including electrocardiograms, and intravenous insertion administration of cardiac ultrasound enhancing contrast.
The Clinical Nurse 2 is responsible for triage on behalf of the practice both in person/video and through telephone and electronic communication such as in-basket messaging and any other electronic communication portal.
The Clinical Nurse 2 participates in the development and implementation of educational programs and materials for patients and their family members.
The Clinical Nurse 2 will play a critical role in the patient experience including optimizing clinic flow, providing in and outreach to patients and working collaboratively with the team to create a patient centered environment.
The Clinical Nurse 2 is responsible for daily clinical operations and maintaining a safe environment for patients and staff.
The Clinical Nurse 2 consistently projects a professional and courteous demeanor, helps establish and maintain the highest service standards for the practice and complies with the Medical Center House and Telephone Standards. This employee will utilize computer skills in Apex and other UCSF computerized programs.
This individual supports the standards of the policies and procedures of the practice and is responsible for maintaining current knowledge of pharmacology and competency in modes of administration and complies with all Ambulatory Services and Medical Center policies and procedures for infection control, safety, and administrative and clinical practice.
Embraces and consistently role models the UCSF concepts of values: PRIDE (Professionalism, Respect, Integrity, Diversity and Excellence and AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, and Thanks) throughout all interactions with patients, family members, and other employees, both in person and on the phone.

Please note: An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.
For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.
