Job Summary
The Cyster lab has an exciting opportunity for an SRA 2 or 3 to join the research team. The lab wants to understand how cell migration during immune responses is guided and controlled to support antigen encounter and cell-cell interaction events needed for immunity to pathogens and tumors. This knowledge can help improve human health through providing insights for making improved vaccines, anti-tumor therapies and mechanisms to block autoimmunity. The overall purpose of this position is to be an integral part of the Cyster lab research team working with other lab members on a range of immunobiology studies as the 'point person' for mouse breeding and genotyping. Additionally, there are opportuinities to help the principal investigator with lab management tasks. Position will require a degree of independence and will be under general supervision. The individual will be a valued member of the lab and actively participate in group meetings and immunology program activities, and contribute to publications.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $30.89 - $49.68 (Hourly Rate).

Department Description
The Department of Microbiology and Immunology is a basic science department within the School of Medicine that performs scientific research, training and teaching at Mission Bay and Parnassus Heights. It is also the home department for the multidisciplinary UCSF Immunology Program and Microbial Pathogenesis Program. The fields of Microbiology and Immunology encompass many aspects of human health and a goal of our research is to further the basic understanding of microbes and the immune system, as well as translate this knowledge into improvement of human health. Research in the department focuses on areas related to infectious diseases, immunology, and cancer. Our department also provides advanced research training to Postdoctoral Fellows. Graduate students working towards their Ph.D. degree are enrolled in the Herbert W. Boyer Program in Biological Sciences (PIBS) or the Biomedical Sciences (BMS) Graduate Programs, depending on their research emphasis.
