Junior/Assistant Specialist - Liver Disease Modeling and Therapy Development

The Willenbring laboratory at the University of California, San Francisco is seeking to hire a research technician and laboratory manger as a Junior/Assistant Specialist. The laboratory investigates mechanisms of liver disease and regeneration with the goal to develop new therapies (Groeger, Nature Communications 2023; Chen, Cell Stem Cell 2020; Schaub, Nature 2018). Responsibilities include breeding and genotyping of transgenic mice, experiments using human induced pluripotent stem cells, adeno-associated viral vectors, human livers and humanized mice, monitoring, ordering and stocking of supplies, and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
Candidates should be proficient in standard molecular and cell biology techniques and Mac and PC platforms, capable of effective oral and written communication, possess good analytical, organizational and interpersonal skills, and be comfortable with multitasking in a deadline-oriented environment. Candidates with experience with mouse handling, viral vectors, or pluripotent stem cell culture are preferred.
Specialists appointed at the Junior rank must have a baccalaureate (or equivalent) degree in biology or a related field or at least 4 years of laboratory experience.
Specialists appointed at the Assistant rank must have a master's (or equivalent) degree in biology or a related field or a baccalaureate degree with 3 or more years of laboratory experience.
