Department Description

Men's & Women's Assistant Track & Field Coach - COACH AST 3

Job Summary

Under the general direction of the men's & women's track & field head coach, assist in all aspects of an NCAA Division I men's & women's track & field program including student recruitment, scheduling, team travel, scouting opponents, practice planning, assisting with the administration of summer camps and clinics, and administration of the men's & women's track & field program in full compliance with NCAA and university rules and regulations.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license, certification and / or educational degree if required of the position.

  • Complete and pass the National Collegiate Athletic Association Recruiting Examination per NCAA bylaw 12.1, 2.2.1 and be CPR & First Aid certified annually.
  • Collegiate coaching and experience in the sport of track & field
  • Knowledge of NCAA throwing events (shots, discuss, javelin and hammer).
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Knowledge of the rules and strategies of track & field. This includes, but is not limited to, teaching techniques, coaching strategies and safety measures that are necessary for the UC Davis student-athlete to compete at the collegiate level.

Preferred Qualifications

Ability to learn the complex policies and procedures regarding academic eligibility of UC Davis student-athletes. These include UC Davis, Big West Conference and the National Collegiate Athletic Association policies and procedures.
