University of California is Hiring a Nurse Practitioner Medical Oncology & Surgery Near San Francisco, CA

Full TimeDays, Weekends10 Hours

The medical oncology and surgery inpatient Nurse Practitioner is a clinical leader and expert in the management of inpatient medical oncology and surgical patients. The NP will be an expert resource for post-operative management, chemotherapy management, workup of cancer diagnoses and symptom management, and care coordination of patients within the inpatient setting.

For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

Nurse Practitioner I
  • Minimum of three (3) years of adult medical/surgical inpatient nursing experience.
  • Possess the skills, knowledge, and abilities essential to successfully perform the duties of the assigned position.
Nurse Practitioner II
  • Minimum of one (1) year related inpatient nurse practitioner experience OR 1 year of GYN med/surg onc experience as a nurse practitioner.
  • Possess the skills, knowledge, and abilities essential to successfully perform the duties of the assigned position.
  • Three (3) plus years related GYN Surgical Oncology experience as a Nurse Practitioner.
  • Current national certification in the area of specialty (AOCN).
  • Experience working in an Academic Medical Center.
  • California driver’s license (CDL) if required for position.
  • Current national certification from an accepted certifying agency and provide by first day of work.
    • Accepted Certifications for this position: ACNP-BC, AGACNP-BC, ACNPC-AG, ACNPC
    • Internal Candidates Only: Within the past 5 years, a minimum 2 years of NP experience in the same UCSF department, practice setting (outpatient vs. inpatient vs. critical care), and patient population (age group) AND one of the following certifications: A-GNP-C, ANP-C, FNP-C, GNP-C, AGPCNP-BC, ANP-BC, FNP-BC, GNP-BC
  • Current and active RN and NP and Furnishing license in California.
  • Complete a BRN recognized graduate master’s degree program as a nurse practitioner.
  • Obtain an active and/or transferable DEA license to California and provide evidence by 90th day of clinical practice. (It is the responsibility of the employee to transfer their DEA license to their new place of employment if from out of state, via online DEA portal and provide evidence of transfer).
  • Submit enrollment with CMS Medicare and Medicaid through credentialing by first clinical day. CCS enrollment as appropriate for pediatric environments.
  • Current AHA BLS as minimum.
  • State regulation requires that you have a supervising physician to practice.
  • Incumbents with less than 6 months of NP experience will be hired as a Nurse Practitioner 1.
UCSF Medical Center and Campus requires certain healthcare providers to be credentialed. In most cases this is done through its Office of Medical Affairs & Governance (OMAG) prior to the first working day. Credentialing and approval of the Standardized Procedures takes between 60-90 days but can vary.
