Position Overview
International Programming Community Coordinator works with the Assistant Director of International Programming and the Director of the Centre for Global Competency/Global Learning to develop, promote, coordinate, and evaluate the 'Glocal' programs and activities facilitated by the Centre of Global Competency and the Office of Global Affairs.
Hours per Week
  • Up to 25 hours per week, maximum, during fall and spring semesters.
  • Up to 35 hours per week, maximum, during summer semesters and breaks.
College/Department Overview
The Office of Global Affairs commits to guide, serve, and advocate for international students throughout their UCO journey.
Department Specific Job Functions
  • Makes reservations for events both on and off campus, including booking venues, catering, and other event services.
  • Research activity ideas and costs.
  • Obtains quotes and provides cost comparisons to supervisor.
  • Prepares agendas and coordinates logistics for events.
  • Communicates details and plans to community members, students, and volunteers via email, phone, and social media.
  • Answers inquiries regarding events and programs supported by the Centre for Global Competency.
  • Explains student and community involvement options and processes.
  • Exercises initiative and leadership in managing Glocal programs, such as CRISP (Community Responding to International Students Program), and SPICE (Students Providing International and Cultural Experiences) and oversees the Global Leadership Ambassador program.
  • Maintains program participation records and reports status on a regular basis.
  • Some nights and weekends are required.
Enrollment Requirements
Fall/Spring Semesters : All student employees must be enrolled at least half-time to be eligible to work any UCO student position. Half-time enrollment for fall/spring semesters is considered 5 hours for graduates and 6 hours for undergraduates. International students must be enrolled full-time to be eligible to work as a student employee. Full-time enrollment is 9 credit hours for graduates and 12 credit hours for undergraduates.
Summer Semester : Student employees working regular student positions must be enrolled in at least 3 credit hours to be eligible to work during the summer. Students not enrolled in summer classes must be enrolled in fall classes in order to work during the summer, but they (and the department) will be required to pay FICA taxes. Student employees working FWSP positions must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours (if undergraduate) or 5 credit hours (if graduate) in order to work during the summer in a Federal Work Study Program position.
Enrollment Exception : If the number of credit hours needed to graduate is less than the minimum number of hours required for student employment, the student must obtain a letter from their Academic Advisor (stating the number of hours needed to graduate and anticipated graduation date) and submit it to Human Resources. This pertains to both regular and Federal Work Study Program positions. Contact jobs@uco.edu for more information.
Qualifications/Experience Required
  • Experience interacting with international students.
  • Experience with student programming and activities on a university campus.
  • Firsthand knowledge of American family culture and values.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in scheduling and maintaining a calendar of events.
Qualifications/Experience Preferred
  • Familiarity with paperwork and funding processes throughout the Department of Student Organizations.
  • Familiarity with reserving rooms and equipment through Conference and Event Services at the University of Central Oklahoma.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excell.
  • Experience with promotional material and web design is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently, professionally, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Must be detail-oriented and able to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Although infrequent, employee must be able to lift and move supplies weighing up to 20lbs.
