Job InformationJob SummaryThe Copy Center Clerk works independently and as part of a team to provide a high degree of customer service to the University of Chicago community. Display professionalism, a strong sense of customer service, and collegial behavior as this role interacts with the faculty, staff, and students. Responsible for performing duties related to the operation of The Business Center focusing on the copy center jobs as the lead contact for all workflow of all copy center orders. Responsible for operating and maintaining photocopiers, large format printers, laminator, board cutter and binding machine. Processing copy jobs, shipping labels, and billing of those transactions. To advise clients/customers on layout/design of materials as needed or requested. This position will be encouraged to create, execute, and/or adopt Booth and University Sustainability Initiatives.
Responsibilities
  • Manage daily operations of the Copy Center by being the lead contact for all copy center orders and projects. This includes large format poster and banner jobs, binding, printing, copies, lamination and cut jobs.
  • Operate commercial large format laminator, commercial large format printer and paper and foam core board cutting equipment to produce posters and banners.
  • Operate booklet binding equipment.
  • Communicate order statuses and progress with customers via email, phone or in person
  • Manage daily billing tasks to close out jobs.
  • Work with design apps such as Adobe and Microsoft Office to assist customers with simple design aspects of their projects.
  • Arrange for pick-up or delivery of all Copy Center jobs, whichever is most convenient for the customer.
  • Process mail and shipping labels for Business Center customers including occasional in-house deliveries.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot and resupply copy machine equipment in The Business Center and throughout Booth campus buildings.
  • Report technical issues as needed/required.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory and adequate stock of all necessary supplies.
  • Stay current on design style guides which dictate logos, fonts and colors set by Chicago Booth Marketing teams
  • This position may also grow into other areas and be required to perform duties in the Gleacher Center or other Booth buildings as needed/required.

Additional Requirements Education, Experience, or Certifications:Education
  • High school diploma or GED required.
Experience
  • At least one year of experience in a demanding customer service environment required.
  • Graphic design experience preferred.
Licenses And Certifications
  • Valid driver’s license required.
Technical Knowledge Or Skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite required.
  • Perform mathematical calculations relative to sizing requirements of the project at hand required.
Working Conditions And Physical Requirements
  • This position is expected to work in the office.
  • Frequently perform strenuous physical activity such as lifting, carrying, crouching, kneeling, driving, reaching, stooping and balancing.
  • Lift and manipulate objects of up to 75 pounds and transport for 50 feet; and push up to a maximum of 200 pounds is required.
  • Manipulate and use correctly and safely all associated tools.
  • Move about the campus in all weather conditions.
Pay Range
  • $19.65 - $28.76 per hour.
