About The DepartmentThe Department of Neurology at The University of Chicago Medical Center has a great history and tradition, having made significant contributions to neurological training, clinical care, and the basic understanding of neurological disease. The Healthy Aging & Alzheimer's Research Care (HAARC) Center, is a new multidisciplinary center at the University of Chicago focused on implementing research on aging, Alzheimer’s and related dementia research focused on optimizing knowledge, care, interventions, and quality of life. This at-will position is wholly or partially funded by contractual grant funding which is renewed under provisions set by the grantor of the contract. Employment will be contingent upon the continued receipt of these grant funds and satisfactory job performance.
Job SummaryThe Healthy Aging & Alzheimer’s Research Care (HAARC) Center is seeking a Data Analyst to support data management across research projects. The University of Chicago Healthy Aging & Alzheimer’s Research Care (HAARC) Center seeks to serve as an aging and dementia research hub dedicated to the discovery of factors that promote resilience, resistance, and increased healthspan through multidisciplinary research, community engagement, education, and the development of new evidence-based interventions. As part of the HAARC Center, you’ll be immersed in a collaborative and dynamic research environment dedicated to filling critical scientific knowledge gaps related to healthy aging, Alzheimer’s, and related dementias. Studies include the international SuperAging Research Initiative and Communication Bridge, a non-pharmacologic clinical trial delivered via telehealth (video chat) with global enrollment.
This position will play a supporting role in the collection, organization, and analysis of data sourced from diverse internal and external sources. Working closely with senior team members, this hire will contribute to data analysis assignments essential for supporting research projects. Responsibilities include ensuring data accuracy, validity, and quality assurance across different systems, as well as generating reports and insights crucial for informed decision-making.
This position will collaborate with study team members across the Center to accurately address data needs as they arise, and will actively familiarize themselves with the history and complexity of longitudinal datasets across multiple established research projects.
An ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of the Research Electronic Data Capture (REDCap) system, knowledge of research methodologies and data analysis, experience with coding languages such as R and Python, and a demonstrated commitment to communication and collaboration.
Responsibilities
  • Engage with team members to analyze complex data sets, and support in addressing research data science needs effectively, emphasizing knowledge exchange and collaboration.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining data infrastructure, facilitating efficient management of multiple complex datasets.
  • Contribute to process improvements for data calibration and assist in implementing operational protocols for effective data collection and analysis.
  • Participate in the design and evaluation of statistical models and data processing pipelines, ensuring reproducibility and accuracy.
  • Support high-level or complex data-related requests, liaising with other IT resources as required.
  • Analyzes moderately complex data sets for the purpose of extracting and purposefully using applicable information.
  • Provides professional support to staff or faculty members in defining the project and applying principals of data science in manipulation, statistical applications, programming, analysis and modeling.
  • Performs other related work as needed.
Education:Minimum QualificationsMinimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.
Work Experience:Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 2-5 years of work experience in a related job discipline.
Certifications:Preferred QualificationsEducation:
  • Advanced degree in a related field.
Experience:
  • Previous experience or knowledge in research-related data analysis, typically gained through internships, academic projects, or entry-level positions in a research environment.
