Postdoctoral Scholar Position Open in the Zhen Tian Lab.

Artificially Intelligent Radiation Treatment Planning

The Tian Lab in the Department of Radiation & Cellular Oncology at the University of Chicago is seeking one or more highly motivated postdoctoral research fellows or graduate students to work on an NIH-funded project to develop advanced AI-driven treatment planning algorithms under the supervision of the Principal Investigator Dr. Zhen Tian. The ideal candidate will work with Dr. Tian to develop advanced AI algorithms, design and evaluate experiments, process and analyze data as well as prepare scientific manuscripts for publications. The initial appointment is for one year and renewal is expected upon the performance. Career Path:

This is a full-time, mentored research position. The successful candidate will receive regular mentorship and evaluation, be trained and encouraged to disseminate research findings in major national conferences and peer-reviewed publications, and to seek extramural research funding. The postdoc will enhance research independence and professional skills needed for pursuing a academic, industry or a clinical professional career of medical physicists afterward. Medical physicists are a well-paid and stable professional, and they are the only non-MD professional certified by the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS). Medical physicists collaborate with physicians closely in patient imaging, treatment planning and delivery, and quality assurance in routine clinical practice. Qualifications:

  • Requires a Ph.D. degree in Medical Physics, Computer Science, Physics, Biomedical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, or related fields
  • Strong programming skills with Python, C/C , and/or MATLAB are highly desired
  • Experiences with deep/machine learning and/or solving mathematic optimization problems are preferred
  • Must possess strong technical problem-solving skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills

Job Types: Full-time, Contract, Temporary

Pay: $61,008.00 - $66,492.00 per year
