The position requires a high level of professionalism, senior leader interactions, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and tact & meeting facilitation.Jobs in this career family provide direct professional support for the teaching and/or educational service mission of the university. Functions include academic advising/counseling, student personnel administration, recruitment and admissions, registration, financial aid, faculty affairs, library services, curriculum administration, and others involving direct support of the educational mission of an academic unit.

Career Consultant (OPEN RANK) What you will do:
  • Meets with undergraduate and graduate Business School students and alumni to advise on Resumes, LinkedIn Profiles, Job and Industry Targeting, Networking, Interviewing, and other pertinent career and professional development topics.
  • Develops and maintains strategic partnerships with businesses, non-profits, and government organizations on behalf of the University and its students and faculty for the purpose of identifying top talent for employers, career opportunities for students and graduates, connections for faculty, clubs, and student groups, and sponsorship for the BCC and Business School.
  • Meets with employers to identify new opportunities and promote talent from the Business School.
  • Ensures students are aware of career opportunities, and employers are receiving quality candidates.
  • Utilizes BCC database to enhance student outreach.
  • Serves as a liaison between students, the university, university services (CU Denver Career Center, Experiential Learning Center, etc.), and Business School Departments (RMI, Jake Jabs Center for Entrepreneurship, J.P. Morgan Center for Commodities, CITI, GEM, etc.).
  • Interact with faculty, school clubs, associations, strategic employer partners, and other clients of the Business School to promote connections in the Business School. Through networking and relationship building, strives to connect students and employers for mutually beneficial relationships.
  • Participate in student and alumni outreach events, which include workshops, career fairs, and job events, information sessions, and other Business School club events.
  • Please note, this is not an exhaustive list of responsibilities and roles. Responsibilities will increase in scale based on the professional level (Entry, Intermediate, Senior, or Principal Professional) determined at the time of hire, based on incumbent qualifications.
Compensation and Benefits

The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at the following levels:

Entry Professional Level

  • $51,573 - $57,002

Intermediate Professional Level

  • $52,140 - $57,629

Senior Professional Level

  • $61,307 - $67,760

Principal Professional Level

  • $65,300 - $72,174

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.

Entry Professional Level

  • *A bachelor's degree in education, psychology, business, public administration, health care, educational technology, social science, liberal arts, communications, accounting, finance, library science, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.

Intermediate Professional Level

  • *A bachelor's degree in education, psychology, business, public administration, health care, educational technology, social science, liberal arts, communications, accounting, finance, library science, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
  • *One (1) year in education, psychology, business, public administration, health care, educational technology, social science, liberal arts, communications, accounting, finance, library science, or a directly related field.

Senior Professional Level

  • A bachelor's degree in education, psychology, business, public administration, health care, educational technology, social science, liberal arts, communications, accounting, finance, library science, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
  • Two (2) years in education, psychology, business, public administration, health care, educational technology, social science, liberal arts, communications, accounting, finance, library science, or a directly related field.

Principal Professional Level

  • A bachelor's degree in education, psychology, business, public administration, health care, educational technology, social science, liberal arts, communications, accounting, finance, library science, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
  • Three (3) years in education, psychology, business, public administration, health care, educational technology, social science, liberal arts, communications, accounting, finance, library science, or a directly related field.

Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualification to possess AT ALL LEVELS (Preferred Qualifications)
  • Master's or Terminal Degree in Counseling, Business, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
  • Experience with Corporate, third-party, or international recruiting and hiring.
  • Experience with business roles, hiring processes, and candidate evaluation processes that allow practical guidance to students and alumni on resumes, LinkedIn profiles, interviewing job and industry targeting strategies, and networking.
  • Experience working with various Applicant Tracking System(s) and Job Board sites.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to advance diversity and inclusion.
  • Experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

*This position follows a hybrid work structure where employees can work remotely or from the office, as needed, based on demands of specific tasks or personal work preferences. Working from the office is encouraged when working on tasks that require a high degree of collaboration.
