Job Summary :

The Health Educator & Prevention Specialist will work with the Adolescent Family Planning Program (BC4U) and Aurora Public Schools (APS), both of which are committed to offering comprehensive sexual health education to all youth throughout the State of Colorado.

This is an exciting role, and the final candidate will have the opportunity to lend an innovative lens to how it operates and works amongst the two organizations / programs.

The Health Educator & Prevention Specialist will partner closely with BC4U's Director of Program Development, Clinic Medical Director, and Program Manager to understand BC4U's clinical services, outreach models and in-clinic workflows to inform their work at APS with APS Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA) focused on health.

Please note, this position is entirely grant / philanthropically funded, and has been for several years; however, if there is an unexpected substantial reduction in funding, or funding ceases, this position may be terminated.

Key Responsibilities :

10%) Work alongside Adolescent Family Planning Program (BC4U) and Aurora Public Schools (APS) to support program objectives.

10%) Assist in the day-to-day operation of BC4U to ensure smooth functioning.

10%) Foster collaboration between BC4U and APS to maximize program effectiveness.

10%) Maintain professional working relationships with APS and various additional districts.

10%) Promote BC4U clinic services within APS and surrounding communities.

10%) Develop robust sexual health curriculum presentations for youth in Colorado alongside BC4U and APS.

10%) Deliver sexual health education sessions to high-school students in APS and various additional districts

10%) Collaborate with BC4U's Program Manager, Clinic Medical Director, and Program Manager to ensure the integration of health education into strategic plans for both BC4U and APS

10%) Partner with BC4U's Program Manager, Clinic Medical Director, and Program Manager to ensure in-clinic workflow consistency and collaboration.

10%) Work closely with BC4U's Program Manager, Clinic Medical Director, and Program Manager to provide insights and support at APS and Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA) focused on health

Work Location :

Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO.

Qualifications :

Minimum Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in public / community health, social work, or a directly related field from an accredited university.
  • Substitution : A combination of education and related technical / paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.
  • At least one year of experience working with young adults or adolescents.
  • At least one year of experience working in prevention or community health.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Experience teaching sexual education to adolescents or young adults.
  • Experience working in a clinical setting.
  • Experience working in a high-school setting.
  • Demonstrated experience in community organizing and / or community engagement.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :

  • Ability to interact in a compassionate and nonjudgmental manner with a diverse client population with a commitment to health equity.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficient in computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, internet, and email.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to advance diversity and inclusion.

Anticipated Pay Range :

The starting salary range for this position has been established as $56,556 - $71,939 and will be pro-rated to a .5FTE

The above salary range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
