Summary Job Summary The Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) is encouraging applications for The Event Planning and Communication Coordinator position. Working with Strategic Relations and Communications and under the supervision of the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) Assistant Director, the Event Planning and Communication Coordinator coordinates and facilitates communications for the CTL team, which includes the embedded group ASSETT (Arts & Sciences Support of Education Through Technology). This includes coordinating content and design for print, web, digital, email, and social platforms. This position further supports the planning, coordination, and organization of Center programs and events.

Responsibilities What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be Marketing and Communications:
  • Work collaboratively with Strategic Relations and Communications on CTL website updates and content, as well as active management of social media platforms.
  • Work collaboratively with Strategic Relations and Communications to anticipate and plan communications from the CTL and to engage proactively in media relations.
  • Work with Strategic Relations and Communications to create regular updates and news stories about the CTL for the campus community. This includes publishing a newsletter.
  • Liaison with other teaching entities on campus to maintain a common calendar of pedagogic activities on campus.
  • Maintain and update mailing database.
  • Design and disseminate print and digital advertisements, invitations, and handouts for CTL events.
  • Contribute to the design of the CT/ASSETT annual report.
  • Design and order CTL-branded swag (e.g., apparel).
  • Maintain publication archives, including photos, videos, images, logos, and marketing materials.
Event Planning And Program Support
  • Facilitate the planning, organization, and execution of CTL events. Among other tasks, this includes managing the calendaring of workshops, seminars, gatherings, and other events, as well as picking up catering orders and other supplies for events.
  • Arrange event logistics, such as room scheduling, video conferencing (e.g., Zoom), catering, AV needs, photography, etc.
  • Assist CTL staff with coordinating faculty, graduate-student, and other campus groups affiliated with the CTL.
  • Facilitate the collection and management of attendance data and other event-related data for internal use.
  • Train and supervise student staff who assist with programs, special events, and office functions.
What You Should KnowHybrid work schedule offered with weekly in office attendance required.
What We Can OfferThe salary range for this full-time position is $56,000-$61,000.

What We Require
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • One plus (1 ) years of experience managing websites and electronic communication projects, completing electronic marketing campaigns, and/or working in a copywriting, communications, public relations or related position.
  • Experience writing for diverse outlets (web, print, social media) and audiences.
  • Experience with event planning.
  • Proficiency in computer software, including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, Outlook, Web Express, Drupal, PowerPoint, Zoom, Qualtrics (including workflows), social media applications, graphic design and video tools.

  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively on a team and within collaborative work situations.
  • Ability to exercise excellent time management skills to prioritize projects and achieve program needs and goals.
  • Ability to self-start and independently manage multiple complex assignments.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
What We Would Like You To Have
  • 5 years of experience working in an organization whose goals and mission are dedicated to achieving diversity and inclusion.
  • 5 years managing websites and communications for a complex organization.
  • 5 years of program or event planning experience in a complex organization.
  • Experience delivering workshops or presentations, both in person and remotely.
  • Experience with survey design.
  • Experience with audio and video recording software.
  • Experience working in the higher education environment.
