Summary Job Summary The University Memorial Center (UMC) at the University of Colorado Boulder encourages applications for the Maintenance Technician II position! This role supports the UMC Maintenance Department providing comprehensive building maintenance services which include repairing and maintaining bowling and billiards equipment, door hardware maintenance, minor construction, painting, wall repair, and basic electrical and plumbing tasks. This position also provides assistance to other trades workers with electrical, plumbing, and HVAC maintenance and repair projects.

Responsibilities What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be Maintenance of The Connection:
  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs of bowling lanes & equipment, ball returns, billiards, and other various equipment.
  • Diagnose problems in the mechanical and electrical systems as well as performing preventative maintenance on and cleaning of equipment.
  • Train staff and student employees on proper use and cleaning of equipment, and create process documents in for repairs and upkeep as needed.
  • Responsible for maintenance office, stocking lane equipment cleaning supplies, keeping up-to-date inventory of parts & supplies, and acts as a back-up when needed on lane cleaning and waxing operations.
  • Work in collaboration with Connection manager on parts purchasing and vendor communications regarding service needs or warranty issues.
  • Provide feedback on student staff to Connection manager during evaluation period and coaching sessions.
UMC Building Maintenance
  • Clean, maintain, and repair miscellaneous building fixtures and accessories, windows, blinds, doors, drains, shelving and other building hardware.
  • Install and repair floor and wall coverings such as ceramic tile/grout, carpet floor tile, linoleum, and cove base.
Painting And Construction
  • Complete various painting projects using proper techniques for repair and preparation to assure proper base, adhesion, and finish results for surfaces including wood, plain and galvanized steel, aluminum, glass, plaster, stucco, wallboard and masonry.
  • Complete some small construction projects as needed including hanging and repairing drywall, small carpentry projects, etc.
Mechanical
  • Repair various types of equipment according to manufacturer's recommendations.
  • Assist the HVAC mechanics with related equipment repair and service projects.
Plumbing
  • Perform general plumbing repairs including repairs of leaking faucets or unclogging drains.
  • Assist craft plumbers in installing, maintaining and repairing plumbing fixtures, heating systems, and piped utilities.
Electrical
  • Assist electricians with installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical wiring and equipment.
  • Replace lamps in light fixtures, replace small electrical fixtures, and change fuses as needed.
Other Duties
  • Assists with various building projects, snow removal, and other duties as needed.
What You Should Know
  • Standard schedule is Tuesday through Saturday, 9AM to 6PM, although some late nights and weekends may be required.

What We Require
  • Four-years of experience in an occupational field related to the work assigned to the position. Equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute.
  • Current, valid driver's license.
What You Will Need
  • Knowledge of building maintenance, repair techniques, and materials.
  • Ability to use various power equipment, including drill, sawsall, hand tools, etc.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Knowledge of safety hazards and precautions related to the building and maintenance trades.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting to complete daily activities according to work schedule.
  • Demonstrated ability to use sound judgement to analyze maintenance repair situations.
  • Able to safely work from ladders and lifts.
What We Would Like You To Have
  • Structural trades experience in a higher education or commercial setting.
  • Experience working on AMF/Qubica bowling equipment.
  • Experience with key and lock systems.
  • Ability to weld using mig/tig/stick.
