University of Colorado Anschutz Medical CampusDepartment: Colorado Center for Personalized MedicineJob Title: Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC)Position #: 00823529 – Requisition #:33774Job Summary:As an important member of the Participant Engagement team, the Clinical Research Coordinator works with industry-sponsored, cooperative group and Center-initiated clinical research projects per Standard Operating Protocols, FDA Regulations, and GCP Guidelines. This position is accountable for meeting study-specific goals and timelines while performing and assisting with study-specific tasks, participant communication, and data auditing and collection. This position is responsible for scheduling, coordinating, and preparing study participant communications (email and phone), contributing to joint initiatives with stakeholders and partners, coordinating biospecimen collection, and data entry, database management, and data/file auditing. This position communicates appropriately and effectively with study participants, investigators, providers, sponsors, and other team members; has outstanding customer service skills; and accepts responsibility for maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborates closely with the Participant Engagement Team to ensure continuity of positive interaction with study participants, proper data management, and fosters constructive inter-departmental partnerships as the study grows over time.
  • Communicates directly with study participants about the details of the research program through phone contacts and electronic communication.
  • Meets with current and potential study participants at community events to deliver information about the study, assist in self-consent, and collect biospecimen (saliva).
  • Performs quarterly audits in REDCap and EPIC of study participant information, sample collection, and study enrollment.
  • Develops protocol-specific source documents (e.g., data collection tools, study participant communication checklists, auditing documentation, standard operating procedures, etc.).
  • Ensures that the informed consent process has occurred, is appropriately documented, and that documents are filed as required.
  • Ensures tests and procedures required by research protocols are correctly performed and documented (e.g., questionnaire/survey administration, sample collection, specimen processing and shipping, protocol-specific tests, and procedures).
  • Abstracts and records all study participant data about the research protocol onto protocol-specific Case Report Forms (CRFs) and secure databases (e.g. REDCap, EPIC EHR) in an accurate and timely fashion.
  • Ensures complete source documentation is compiled for each study participant.
  • Works simultaneously on projects in collaboration with different units within CCPM.

Qualifications:Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Communication, Health, Sciences, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
    • Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year-for-year basis.
  • 0-1 year of clinical research experience.
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.PLEASE NOTE: Candidates will be responsible for travel expenses related to the interview process and any relocation expenses, if applicable.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with electronic data capture systems, including REDCap and EPIC.
  • Extramurally funded, ideally R01-level clinical research experience (any clinical research experience for CRC I level).
  • Experience working with and auditing large data sets such as participant information, sample collection, and enrollment.
  • Experience in Regulatory Affairs and website management is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of basic human anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
  • Analytical Skills - Ability to interpret and master complex research protocol information.
  • Attention to Detail – Work is accurate, and details are not overlooked.
  • Communication Skills - Good command of the English language and excellent ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal.

  • Adaptability – Adapts quickly to change and can manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a calm, organized manner; is open to new ideas and methods; can work independently and as part of a team.
  • Planning and Organizing – Sets priorities, anticipates obstacles when planning and manages time effectively to accomplish tasks.
  • Technical Skills – Adept at utilizing technology to effectively communicate and complete work (e.g. MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint); ability to learn new technology.

Anticipated Pay Range:The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $47,063 to $59,864.
