Employee Services provides the CU community with excellent services from recruitment to retirement. This office provides technical expertise while administering benefits, professional development, payroll, individual tax management, and strategic HR programs. The functional areas of Employee Services include Payroll, Technologies, Benefits, Retirement, Financial Education, Learning and Development, International Tax and Human Resources.

Position Summary:

The Senior Benefits Enrollment Processor, with extensive experience in benefits administration, assumes an expert role in managing benefits transactions and ensuring accurate data entry in the Human Capital Management (HCM) and Enrollment Management Access Database systems at the University of Colorado (CU). This position will resolve sophisticated problems related to benefits enrollment data and is responsible for proper enrollment and deductions for employees, retirees, surviving spouses, and students. Additionally, the Senior Benefits Enrollment Processor plays a pivotal role in initiating and managing Open Enrollment activities, integrating new benefit plans and eligibility rules, and driving system improvements. In addition to this role’s day to day duties, this role will also provide guidance to other team members, when needed.

This position will report to the Assistant Director of Benefits Operations and is exempt from the State of Colorado Classified Staff System.

This role is eligible for a hybrid schedule, working some days from home and some days in office at our 1800 Grant Street location.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Acts as a subject matter expert in benefits administration, analyzing and optimizing existing and new business processes, and effectively communicating changes to collaborators and partners.
  • Leads the entry and verification of diverse data into HCM and Enrollment Management systems, ensuring data quality and resolving highly sophisticated issues.
  • Provides expert-level support and knowledge for payroll adjustments, ensuring accuracy and compliance across various pay periods.
  • Collaborates closely with payroll processors to facilitate timely and accurate refund/addition adjustments and validation processes.
  • Interprets and applies intricate enrollment rules and guidelines for benefits programs, aligning them with HCM rules to ensure accurate enrollment methods.
  • Develops advanced adjustment forms, using tools such as Microsoft Access, for insurance premium refund/deduction processes.
  • Conducts in-depth analysis through running and interpreting reports to identify discrepancies in HCM and initiates corrective actions.
  • Prepares comprehensive adjustment forms with all necessary documentation for submission to Employee Service (ES) units, ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Demonstrates an expert understanding of eligibility, enrollment, and compliance rules for diverse benefit programs and aligns them effectively with HCM rules.
  • Leads and supports special projects, including audit research and compliance initiatives, providing mentorship to junior team members.
  • Serves as a key liaison between Benefits and Payroll, Accounting, and UIS departments, fostering and encouraging effective communication and collaboration.
  • Performs additional responsibilities as required by the department.

Salary: The anticipated hiring range has been established at $61,000-$65,000.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education (or equivalent professional experience).
  • Three (3) years of experience in data analysis, benefits enrollment, human resources, or related roles.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Five (5) years of experience in data analysis, benefits enrollment, human resources, or related roles.
  • Advanced certifications or coursework in benefits administration or related fields.
  • Experience in a senior-level role related to benefits administration processes.
  • Experience using human resources information system (HRIS) databases and software.
  • Experience administering complex employee benefits programs.
