University of Colorado Anschutz Medical CampusDepartment: Community and Behavioral Health, mHealth Impact LaboratoryJob Title: Sr. PRA Level 2 or 3Position #00824170 – Requisition #34020Job Summary:This is a full-time position (1.0 FTE) at the rank of Senior Professional Research Assistant (Sr. PRA) Level 2 or 3 for a limited term appointment ending June 30, 2025, at the Colorado School of Public Health (ColoradoSPH), Department of Community and Behavioral Health, mHealth Impact Laboratory.
The Sr. PRA will be responsible for day-to-day management and coordination of all activities associated with the design, delivery, and evaluation of health communication campaigns focused on raising awareness of the health impacts of high concentration THC cannabis products.This position includes but is not limited to coordinating efforts and deliverables, among other potential activities, related to (a) Educational toolkits for youth, parents, pregnant people, and trusted adults on the topic of high concentration cannabis; (b) Developing and managing project workstreams related to materials and product creation; (c) Dissemination activities such as through social media, art exhibitions, and community settings to promote engagement with campaign messages; (d) Evaluation activities of all project components; (e) Involvement in community engagement activities, such as by working with stakeholders through Colorado to determine how to develop and integrate diverse perspectives into the educational campaign; and (f) Strategic planning for future expansion of the campaign components throughout Colorado.
The person in this position needs to have a solid understanding of the authorizing legislation for the program, national best practices for substance misuse prevention, and concepts related to harm reduction and prevention. This position will also encounter differences in opinion among key stakeholders (particularly between pro- and anti-cannabis industry messages) and must be skilled in managing and facilitating constructive resolution and must be experienced in working with community members through focus groups and workshops. The project involves messaging that balances both the beneficial uses and adverse health impacts of cannabis and maintaining fidelity to the research available on cannabis’ health impacts and effective prevention strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with and oversee the day-to-day operations of the high concentration THC cannabis health communication campaign.
  • Assist team leads, supervisors, and/or management with creation and implementation of processes and procedures related to the health communication campaign.
  • Act as a primary coordinator on communication campaign activities.
  • Track the conduct of educational campaign activities and determine if key timeline milestones are being met.
  • Maintain participant and community organizational level documentation and prepare documents, equipment and/or supplies.
  • Assist in leading and coordinating community engagement activities.
  • Prepare materials for internal and external presentations.
  • Assess potential vendors and provide ongoing vendor management and coordination.
  • Manage relationship and coordinate daily activities with public health marketing firms contracting with the University of Colorado.
  • Help determine the appropriateness of campaign messaging and provide guidance to the vendor to improve messaging accuracy across statewide efforts.
  • Monitor content creation to ensure products are consistent with the recommendations of the Scientific Review Council.
  • Contribute to the health education campaign by staying up to date on the most recent research related to high concentration cannabis and its health impacts for key target populations.
  • Translate accurate information on prevention strategies and the health impacts of cannabis based on the findings from the project team to inform the cannabis prevention and education campaign content.
  • Participate with faculty members, staff, and vendors in developing the content of educational campaigns; supervise the conduct of the campaign; and participate in the evaluation of the campaign activities.
  • Serve as a liaison with the community engagement team and support delivery of community events and workshops.
  • Support budget management processes and track campaign expenses as they relate to individual projects.
  • Assist with identifying issues related to operational efficiency and sharing results with leadership.
  • Assist, train, and supervise junior team members.
  • Oversee and provide leadership to the team members, including managing day-to-day priorities, evaluating, and redistributing workloads on a temporary basis, and mentoring staff.
  • Provide input and feedback to leadership on team members’ overall performance, performance evaluations, opportunities for development, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Identify training and development opportunities for new and existing team members.
  • Identify questions and concerns from statewide internal and external prevention stakeholders and assure that appropriate responses are provided by the project team.
  • Maintain awareness of the various social, cultural, and justice issues related to the topic of cannabis and incorporate that lens throughout the health education campaign.
  • Other duties as assigned and needed to achieve the goals and objectives of the project.
Work Location:Hybrid – this role is eligible for a hybrid schedule of 2 days per week on campus and as needed for in-person meetings.

Qualifications:Minimum Qualifications:Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.This is an open rank position and could be categorized as Senior PRA Level 2 or Senior PRA Level 3 based on experience and qualifications as indicated below:
Senior PRA Level 2:
  • Master’s degree in public health, public administration, social/behavioral sciences, physical sciences, nursing, healthcare, finance, accounting, business administration, business, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
  • Experience in program evaluation and community engagement.
  • At least one year of program coordination or relevant experience.
  • Supervisory experience.
Senior PRA Level 3:
  • Master’s degree in public health, public administration, social/behavioral sciences, physical sciences, nursing, healthcare, finance, accounting, business administration, business, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
  • Experience in program evaluation and community engagement.
  • At least one year of program coordination or relevant experience.

  • Experience with electronic data capture systems (e.g., Qualtrics, REDCap and other data management systems)
