Special Payroll Research Assistant Job Description

Purpose of Class:

UConn Health seeks to fill a Special Payroll Research Assistant position to assist in the Cell Biology Department. This is a temporary position.

Examples of Duties:

-Tissue Culture, including preparation of cells and culture medium.

-PCR genotyping of mice.

-Analysis of proteins by gel electrophoresis and western blotting.

-Fluorescence microscopy.

-Data analysis, record keeping, presentation of results.

Minimum Qualifications:

-Bachelor's Degree in Biochemistry.

Preferred Qualifications:

-At least 1 year experience working in a biomedical research lab

-Competence with gel electrophoresis, fluorescence assays, cell culture, PCR assays.

-Ability to work independently and present results to the lab group.

-Interest in the cell biology of reproduction.

-Willingness to work flexibly and travel when needed.

Schedule: Works 10 hours per week, to be determined. Variable as needed for lab experiments. May involve work outside of standard business hours.

Salary:

$20.00 per hour. This position is not eligible for benefits.
