Job Description:

This position is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive marketing and communications plan for the Hamilton Center. This role is highly independent and oversees all internal, and some external, contacts and communications; publication and data dissemination; social media and general marketing strategy and account management; and collaborates with other Hamilton Center faculty, staff and UF communications teams.

Under the Director’s guidance, incumbent will be expected to lead the development and implementation of a robust communications strategy that aligns with UF and the Hamilton Center’s strategic priorities. Will recommend methods to support and enrich communications opportunities. The employee will work with the Director to develop new initiatives, continuing to expand the Center’s reach, beyond UF, through such methods as collaborations with external partners. Additionally, the incumbent will help formulate and implement marketing, communications, social media, and event policies that will assist the Hamilton Center with achieving its goals.

Develop Comprehensive Communications Strategy:
Develop the internal communications strategy and plan for the Hamilton Center including social media, listserv, newsletter, and website maintenance, and email marketing campaigns. Collaborate with various college communicators, implement a social media plan for the Hamilton Center in conjunction with UF Strategic Communications and Marketing, and plan for advertisement of programs and activities to UF faculty, staff, and students (internal audiences).

Implement Comprehensive Communications Plan:
Implement the internal communications plan for the Hamilton Center by creating content and maintaining listserv, website, newsletter and email marketing campaigns, social media channels (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram), advertisements for the Hamilton Center and any internal UF communications. Serve as primary account manager for web and social platforms, creating posts in accordance with comprehensive communications plan. Disseminate information about the programs of the Hamilton Center across all channels.

Content Creation:
Develop and produce text and graphical content for internal and external audiences, including news releases, web posts, brochures, pamphlets, one-pagers, briefing documents, email responses, etc. Yearly, the incumbent will work with other Hamilton Center staff and the Director to produce print and digital versions of the annual report including content for the annual QEP report. All content creation must comply with UF and Hamilton Center branding policies.

Media Relations/Writing:
Develop and maintain network of local and national media contacts including print, radio, television, and social media. Provide media support by responding to inquiries and pitching stories to appropriate news outlets to advance the Hamilton Center’s mission. Coordinate the reactive media response from journalists from media news outlets which includes print, video, online and social media. Respond to all inquiries in a timely and customer focused manner. Assist with news conferences and other media activities. Conduct media training for Hamilton Center faculty. Create tailored, strategic, and integrated communications products by writing feature and other stories about the Hamilton Center and its research, programs, faculty or staff members, and students. Write, edit, and publish articles, bulletins, brochures, marketing and promotional material for print, web, and social media publication.
Data Analytics:
Work with UF Data Analysts to devise, implement, measure, and evaluate marketing campaigns and internal marketing efforts to understand and improve strategic performance in marketing, media, and public relations across multiple and diverse platforms and audiences. Research media outlets for targeted pitching of Hamilton Center-related content. Observe social, economic, and political trends, providing insightful recommendations to create diverse and impactful publicity methods, ensuring a comprehensive approach to reaching target audience. Communicate analytics and changes in strategy to Hamilton Center leadership team.

Conference/Event Organization:
Work with the Conference/Event Planner I, to organize, promote, and implement conferences. Tasks include overall media strategy, design and publishing of advertisement materials, abstract review, program development, program publishing, website management, and run of show development for conferences and related media events.

Other:
Assist and perform other projects and duties as needed and assigned.

Expected Salary:

Commensurate with experience.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree and six years of relevant experience; or an Associate’s degree and eight years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

A bachelor’s degree in public relations, marketing, communications, journalism, or related field and eight years of professional experience. Experience in development and implementation of public relations campaigns, editorial planning, writing, editing. Social media expertise, audio/visual production. Project management coordination. Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments, both for self and others. Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team toward organizational objectives. Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, Adobe products, and other professional design software, as well as HTML and CSS languages for managing and building websites. Excellent written and verbal communication.
