Postdoctoral Associate

Dr. Xiao Fan’s laboratory ( https://xiaofan-lab.github.io/ ) in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Florida has a fully-funded postdoctoral associate position. Fan Lab aims to understand genetic causes of rare human diseases using case-control association studies, and improving interpretation of genetic variations using machine learning methods. Research projects will involve study design, data acquisition, method development, data analysis, and software/database maintenance.

Salary will commensurate with experience and will follow NIH guidelines.

• PhD in computer science, statistical genetics, bioinformatics or related quantitative subject.

• Experience with high performance computing
• Experience with deep learning modelling
• Experience with bioinformatics projects
• Relevant publications in peer-reviewed journals
• Ability to mentor junior team members
• A strong background in programming (e.g. python or R)
• Demonstrated experience with machine learning modelling
• Interest in learning biological/genetic concepts
• Excellent communication skills
