Summary:
This position provides accessible document design and remediation services, such as running accessibility checks on PDF documents, and adding alt text, tables, and other elements to reach WCAG standards. This position will work with project managers, subject matter experts and other designers to ensure learning content is accessible. This position will remediate course content, training manuals, and A/V materials and other ancillary materials as needed.
Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provides technical expertise in the remediation of learning content for accessibility
  • Works with designers to understand intended learning outcomes and suggests digital accessibility best practices to support those outcomes
  • Creates new digital materials where document remediation is not possible, such as PDF documents, charts, and graphics
  • Contributes to the design or remediation of project deliverable according to deadlines
  • Runs accessibility reports and applies best practices in digital content remediation
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree.
2. A total of one (1) year (12 months) years’ experience working with accessibility and/or employing universal design pedagogies/strategies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in digital material remediation.
  • Successful prior experience in online teaching or online course design.
  • Strong and current experience collaborating with or providing support to faculty within a higher education context.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
4 years’ additional experience working with accessibility and/or employing universal design pedagogies/strategies.
Certification in Digital Accessibility (e.g. CPACC, CPABE, WAS, CPAA, or CPWA).
