Position Summary

The University of Illinois College of Medicine in Peoria, Illinois is currently searching for a Director of Revenue Cycle who will oversee initiatives within our Revenue Cycle Department. The Director is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the revenue cycle process and ensure that the organizations revenue cycle operations are efficient, accurate, and compliant with all relevant regulations and standards. Additionally, the Director of Revenue Cycle will collaborate with campus leadership to achieve key operational results and drive performance improvement initiatives to optimize revenue capture and maintain the financial health of the organization. This role involves frequent interaction with leaders across the institution and requires collaboration with local health systems.
Duties & Responsibilities

  • Identify opportunities to improve revenue capture, reduce revenue leakage, and maximize reimbursement through accurate coding, timely billing, clean claims submission, and effective denial management.
  • Plans, develops, and implements programs, projects, strategies, and technology to continuously improve and manage the revenue cycle and increase profitability.
  • Provides data driven insights and actionable information to drive improvement, increase efficiency, and implement best practices in revenue cycle operations. Monitors key performance indicators and escalates issues to leadership as appropriate.
  • Develops and ensures implementation of policies and procedures; and ensures goals and objectives are properly defined and clearly established.
  • Provides leadership, guidance, and direction to the revenue cycle team. Hires and retains staff. Monitors employee performance and completes annual evaluations of direct reports.
  • Provide training, education, and professional development opportunities for revenue cycle staff, clinicians, and administrative teams on revenue cycle best practices, compliance requirements, and industry updates.
  • Set performance goals, key performance indicators (KPIs), and benchmarks for revenue cycle operations. Monitor performance metrics, analyze trends, and implement performance improvement initiatives.
  • Analyzes and resolves problems that affect the revenue cycle.
  • Collaborate with the Regional Dean, Executive Director of Fiscal Affairs, Department Managers, and Division Heads to produce annual budgets. Create monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for UIC and departments.
  • MSP Committee participation.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Health Care Administration, Business Administration, Finance, or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of progressive experience in revenue cycle management, healthcare finance, or healthcare administration.
  • Strong understanding of revenue cycle processes, including billing, coding, claims processing, reimbursement, denial management, and collections.
  • Excellent management and interpersonal skills with the ability to lead teams, collaborate with stakeholders, and drive performance improvement initiatives.
  • Proficiency in data analysis, financial reporting, and revenue cycle analytics to identify trends, KPIs, and performance metrics.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Master's Degree in Health Care Administration, Business Administration, Finance, or related field.
    • Professional certifications related to revenue cycle management, such as Certified Revenue Cycle Professional (CRCP), Certified Revenue Cycle Executive (CRCE), or Certified Revenue Cycle Representative (CRCR).
    • Previous experience implementing revenue cycle process improvements, performance optimization initiatives, or technology solutions.
    • Knowledge of healthcare industry trends, reimbursement models, value-based care initiatives, and revenue cycle best practices.
    • Strong communication skills to effectively communicate with leadership, clinical departments, and other stakeholders.
