Position Summary
The Business Administrative Associate (HB Revenue Recovery Manager) is responsible for various managed care and contracted payment functions. This role is responsible for monitoring and collecting of payer underpayments. This manager is a resource for evaluating reimbursement and working with the Director of Revenue Recovery and Payer Operations on underpayments and payer issues. This role must have revenue cycle billing and collections experience as well as contract interpretation and adjudication experience.

Provides supervisory oversight and instructions to staff. Using the Epic Revenue Cycle system, continually evaluate KPIs as well as automation opportunities for reporting and tracking of underpayments or processing anomalies. Assists with contract management systems and inputs.
Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manages Epic underpayment work queues and advising staff
  • Monitors and manages staff productivity, and accuracy. Evaluates staff performance using Epic Revenue Cycle system and quality reviews
  • Monitors the adjustments of the contract management system and may assist with loading contracts
  • Acts a resource for other unit managers regarding payer guidelines and behaviors
  • Acts as a point of escalation for other unit managers for payer issues and submits and prepares files for escalation. Investigates and validates before submitting to payer.
  • Manages payer audits and ensures that the information is accurate and submitted timely
  • Participates in department meetings to better understand workflows that impact billing and payments. Offers input as appropriate.
  • Manages relationship with underpayment and other accounts vendors as appropriate. Investigates or escalates issues as needed.
  • Evaluates and modifies procedures as necessary to optimize performance
  • Compile monthly reports of payer underpayments and evaluates trends.
  • Completes yearly staff evaluations
  • Provide feedback and account review to Finance, or other internal or external depts.
  • Works with Director of Revenue Recovery on creation of new insurance payer plans
  • Other duties as requested and assigned


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, management, or a field related to the position.
  • Two (2) years of professional business, financial, and/or managerial work experience.
    (NOTE: A Master’s Degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year (12 months) of work experience.)

This position requires Illinois residency within 180 days of hire date.
Preferred Qualifications

  • 5 years of hospital Revenue Cycle experience
  • Ability to manually calculate complex hospital contract reimbursement
  • Epic Billing and Collections experience
